About Episode

  1. What if you were born with a condition that threatened your health from the time you were just a child - or were stricken with a potentially terminal disease in your prime?

On this episode of True Life, you'll meet two young people forced to confront their own mortality as they undergo major surgical procedures that could mean the difference between life and death.

Morgan has chronic kidney disease and received a kidney transplanted from her father when she was just 13. But Morgan rebelled against taking the daily regimen of medications that would keep her new organ healthy - and now needs a second transplant. Morgan is ready to receive a kidney from her mom even though she's racked with guilt about burdening the family with her lifetime of illness. Is Morgan prepared to take better care of her new kidney than she did the old?

Craig had just proposed to his girlfriend last year when he found out he had Leukemia. After enduring months of intensive chemotherapy, Craig's cancer went into remission. But the disease, and the chemo used to treat it, destroyed his immune system, making relapse a near certainty. Craig's only chance for survival is a bone marrow transplant -- even though it carries a 50% chance of killing him. Will the procedure replenish the white blood cells Craig needs so he can live a long and full life with his new wife?

They are two courageous fighters, with families that love them, determined to get better. Will their strength of spirit be enough? Find out next, on True Life: I Need a Transplant.
