About Episode

  1. Raising a child is a difficult challenge, even when you have a trusted partner. But when you're young and single, it can be completely overwhelming. On this episode of True Life you meet three novice parents who are doing their best to support their children and themselves all on their own.

Sheena has been raising her two year old daughter solo for over a year now. She's looking for a new boyfriend but is finding that most guys her age aren't interested in being a daddy. After dumping her boyfriend Cody for not making an effort with her daughter, Sheena tries to focus on being a better mother to Elena. However, growing tensions with her family make Sheena all the more eager to get a place of her own. She finds an answer to both problems when she quickly falls for Garrison, who doesn't have kids of his own but is eager to spend time with Elena because of his feelings for Sheena. Sheena and Elena move in with Garrison and he quickly makes things official by proposing to Sheena. Sheena is happy to no longer be a single parent and that Elena will finally have a constant father figure in her life.

Jocelyn has been forced to rely on her family's help since her baby's father was sent to prison. But she and her mother bicker constantly. Jocelyn takes steps to become more independent by getting a full time job, but is forced to put Justice in day care in order to do so. Once she's able to afford her own car, Jocelyn tries to further better herself by applying for financial aid to go back to school. It's not the life she imagined for herself, but Jocelyn recognizes that this is how is will have to be until her fiancé is released from jail in eighteen month.

Nick has his hands full as he struggles to raise six small children on his own. He'd love to find a girlfriend, but so far the women he's dated have gotten cold feet after meeting his boisterous brood. Although his girlfriend Ashley has a child of her own, she's overwhelmed after having dinner with all of his kids and ends things shortly after. To make matters worse, Nick's mostly absent ex-wife shows up out of the blue to see the kids one night. Not wanting the children to get attached to someone who won't be around, Nick makes her leave and asks her not to come back. Things are stressful, but Nick is hopeful that things will get easier as his twin five year olds begin kindergarten and get old enough to give their dad some much needed help!
