About Episode

  1. Everyone has anxieties, but what do you do when those fears turn into violent panic attacks that keep you from doing everyday activities? On this episode of True Life, we follow three young adults struggling to build normal lives while learning to control their panic disorder.

There's Monica, an eighteen year old who's debilitating panic attacks have forced her to be home schooled since she was twelve years old. Despite the fact that she's stopped taking medication for it, Monica hopes to take steps towards leading a normal life and going to college in the fall. The only problem is that she can barely keep her anxieties in order enough to register for classes or get a job that will allow her to pay for school.

Nichole is twenty-four years old and was living a perfectly normal life until her mom died of a heart attack. Two years later, her anxiety has caused her to postpone her wedding twice and keeps her from leaving the house on her own. She knows her issues are wearing on her fiancé, so she tries hypnosis as a treatment in the hopes she'll be able to hold down a job and one day walk down the aisle.

Last of all is Frank, a native New Yorker who hasn't left Staten Island in almost a year due to panic attacks brought on by the death of a friend. Much to the concern of his parents, Frank finds it difficult to even leave their house to go out to dinner, much rather drive the bridge out of Staten Island and into New Jersey. A year of therapy and medication hasn't helped, but Frank seems determined to fight his fears and live a normal life.
