For most, vacations are for kicking back, relaxing and exploring an exotic destination. But what happens if your trip has the subtext of getting closer to a companion? On this episode of True Life, we meet four young people planning to use their time away from home to put important relationships to the ultimate test.
Chris and Liad are friends with benefits on a spring break visit to Europe. Because Liad wants Chris to become her boyfriend and he wants to hook up with foreign hotties abroad, their trip will serve as a relationship crossroads. If things go smoothly, they could come home a couple; if not, they may be driven apart. Their main obstacle proves to be Liad's temper, which gets the best of her on a regular basis. After some serious high and lows across three major European cities, she learns to manage her anger and gets her wish when Chris proposes that she become his girlfriend.
Donovan and Brandon are half brothers who have never been buddy-buddy. Fed up with the estranged relationship, their mother sends them to Hawaii hoping to strengthen their bond. When they arrive in paradise, Donovan's independent spirit is keeps the brothers from spending quality time together. But, towards the end of the trip, Brandon decides to put some extra effort into getting to know Donovan, taking him out for dinner and drinks on his birthday. Before too long the boys are getting along like old pals. When they return home their mother is happy to see that her plan worked like a charm.
