Scheming and sneakiness abound in this episode of The Guantlet, as the Veterans plot to drop a few of their girls, who are just dead weight as far as these strong guys are concerned. But Coral overhears the conversation and confronts Evan, criticizing his untrustworthy friendship.
At competition day, the guys on the Veterans team know that if they throw the challenge, a girl will be sent packing. But when they find out what the challenge is, they realize they have a huge disadvantage and might lose, anyway. Each team is waiting atop a 25-foot story building, and must walk out onto an overhanging plank, climb down a rope ladder to retrieve the team flag, and climb back up the rope to the safety of the rooftop. Whichever team has the fastest combined time wins. But the Veterans have seven more teammates than the Rookies, and the only way they can win is if each Rookie doubles the Veterans time. The Veteran guys aren't worried; the Rookie team is bad, but not that bad...right?
Halfway through the challenge, with the Rookies already falling behind, Rachel slips on the ladder and falls, racking up a 15 minute time penalty for the Rookies. With Rachel's fall putting the Veterans far into the lead, the Veteran guys quickly discuss their plan to throw the challenge. When it's CT's turn to brave the heights, he fakes a slip, giving the Veterans a 15-minute penalty. But CT isn't the best actor; the girls immediately realize what's happening, and feel embarrassed and disrespected. So when it's Katie's turn and her fear of heights won't allow her to step onto the beam, she feels no guilt when she says she'd rather go to the Gauntlet. It's just not worth it, since the guys threw the challenge, anyways.
Minutes before the Veteran girls are sent to the Gauntlet, Coral throws everyone for a loop. She announces that she is quitting because she feels hurt by her teammates plan to get rid of her. Coral leaving the Gauntlet early wasn't part of the guys plan to 'pick off the chicks', and now the Veterans are forced to lose two girls, instead.
The Veterans have a tough time deciding what girl will compete against EV in the Gauntlet. After the full 30 minutes of deliberation, with no one casting any votes, Casey sacrifices herself, reasoning that the other Veteran teammates are stronger and more valuable for future challenges.
EV easily defeats Casey in the challenge, the Ball Brawl, but the Veterans all respect her for taking one for the team.
During a night of partying the next day, Kenny and Frank get into a drunken wrestling match. Unfortunately, these guys aren't exactly best buds, and the playful wrestling gets seriously hostile. Frank ends up sending Kenny to the hospital with a foot injury. Kenny puts on a brave front for the challenge the next day, but the Veterans are worried. The girls know they need to keep all of their guys, and now they not only have the disadvantage of being the larger team, but of having an injured player. The challenge is Mexican Blanket, where the team members are wrapped in blankets, burrito-style, and have to roll their way to the finish line. The Veterans manage to use their numbers to their advantage, using extra players to block the Rookies from the finish line. In the end, the Veterans leave the Rookies speechless and frustrated, barely winning by a nose.
Ryan and Nehemiah are send to the Gauntlet, and after an exhausting game of strength, Ram It Home, Ryan is sent home. Now the Rookies are left with only two guys, and have become even more of the underdog. Ryan, who put up a great fight during the challenge and Gauntlet, leaves with a parting wish: the underdogs have to triumph.
Meanwhile, Katie from the Veterans has caught on to the fact that the Veteran guys have focused on her as the next girl to be weeded out. But before she goes to bed, she swears she won't go down without a fight.
