Angel and the Alumni continue to clash as they go on a Spring Break mission.
To begin this week of Road Rules 2006: Viewers' Revenge we meet Adam in The Pit, where he is facing off with viewer selected Monte from the Pit Crew. They're getting set to engage in "Balls Out," which has Adam and Monte in a ring with orange and blue balls around the edge and two baskets outside of the ring on opposite sides. The goal is for Monte to take the orange balls, and Adam the blue ones, and toss them into their corresponding baskets ... with one leg attached to their competitor. Really. We couldn't make this stuff up. Oh, wait, we did. Scratch that.
So, on the line is a Roadie spot on the RV, which will go to the person with the most balls in their basket after two minutes. The whistle blows and Adam, having a height and weight advantage, remains on both feet as he tries to get as close to his basket as he can, leaving Monte half-kneeling in the middle of the ring in the process. However, Adam freely admits that he's no basketball star and struggles to sink any balls. Despite being further from his basket, Monte puts in one after another. Quickly exhausting all of his balls from the ring, Monte is left to play defense, attempting to thwart Adam's shots as best he can.
As Adam tosses off his last ball near the two-minute mark, it is too close to tell who has won and Adam and Monte join Road Master Drew Bell on the side of The Pit to wait for the official count. The final tally finds that Monte landed 13 balls in, but Adam was able to sneak ahead with 15! Defeated for a second time in The Pit, Monte must head back and join the other hopefuls waiting to be voted in to The Pit by the viewers and their shot at a seat on the RV.
As Adam waits by the side of the road to be picked up, we head back to the RV where anxieties are high. Shane and Kina are nervous because a loss for Adam means that the Pit Crew will gain an advantage in the RV, and could threaten their stability. Angel is nervous that if Adam comes back it most likely means another miserable week in the RV for her. And Dan and Tori ... well not much is bothering them right now, as they continue to grow closer and spend nearly all their time together as the RV rolls onward.
When the RV comes in sight of Adam, the fears of Shane and Kina are subdued, at least for now. Angel looks defeated, but is able to welcome Adam back respectfully. That night, the Roadies go out for drinks and Angel decides to finally squash the beef with Kina by apologizing for the name-calling in The Pit. Kina accepts Angel's apology, but explains that although it wasn't necessary, she's happy they can finally move on. When Angel gets up from the table a few minutes later, the rest of the Roadies immediately discuss what just happened. They all agree that it is unlikely that Angel was apologizing simply out of heart and it is more likely that she is just attempting to make nice to avoid being voted into The Pit.
The next day the Roadies are at Lake Havasu in Arizona for Spring Break! And, for their next mission: "Beach Blast." This mission involves four Roadies being strapped one at a time into a giant sling-shot and two Roadies standing on trampolines floating on the water. Each sling-shot Roadie will attempt to throw a volleyball to one of the floating Roadies while flying over the water. Each person gets three balls; the first two balls are worth 5 points each if successfully caught and the third ball is worth 25 points. There will be four turns, with the two catchers not getting a chance. If the team can get 50 points or more, they will complete the mission and bank another $10,000.
The gang selects Adam and Shane to be their catchers as they are the tallest, leaving Dan, Kina, Tori and Angel to be strapped into the sling shot. Dan is up first and misses the mark with his first two tries. On his final pass, worth 25 points, he hits Shane square in the chest and Shane holds onto the ball as he falls backwards into the water. Next up is Kina, who misses with all three balls, followed by Tori, who fares the same.
Last to go is Angel, and it is all up to her. She misses with her first two chances, but still needing to get 25 points for the win it is her third and final ball that really matters. The sling-shot takes off and Angel releases the ball towards Adam and it looks good. As the ball comes closer the wind takes it to the left and Adam leaps off the side of the trampoline. But the ball drifts too far and it glances off his fingertips. The Road Rulers fail their second mission, meaning not only do they not receive the $10,000, but will be forced to select one guy and one girl to go into The Pit to face the viewers' choices from the Pit Crew.
Back at the RV park, the Road Rules team huddles around a picnic table for their deliberation. Shane quickly volunteers, rationalizing that it's his turn in the rotation and he hasn't as of yet competed in The Pit. That settled, Shane opens up the girls debate. Neither Kina nor Tori have any desire to volunteer, so they decide to vote. Shane starts with a vote for Angel, not because of her attitude but because of her ability. Shane proclaims that he is only voting in the manner which she suggested the previous week, where the team should vote for the person they deem the weakest link. Going around the table, one-by-one all the votes are for Angel.
Angel, in tears, says that the rest of the Roadies are being hypocritical. She thinks Tori should go into The Pit because it's her turn in the rotation, but this doesn't change anything. Angel is able to calm down a little and cheer up because she knows that if she returns to the RV it will be because she earned her spot there and maybe earn the respect of the rest of the Road Rulers.
