In a heartfelt After Show, Davis discusses his friendship with Stephen and his struggles with coming out.
Love is in the air this week. Davis' boyfriend P.J. visits at the same time as Stephen's girlfriend Mercii.
Davis, Jenn, and Colie head to a gay pride festival, and for the first time Davis is able to feel like he is in his own element. He explains that in the past he has never been able to attend a gay pride event in the past because he hasn't ever lived near one. Davis admits that it's nice for him to feel like he can be open with his sexuality with out feeling threatened. He even is successful at finding a local church that is friendly towards homosexuals.
The following Sunday, Davis and Stephen decide to make their way to church for Sunday service. On the way home, Davis points out a verse in the New Testament that says a women's head should be shaved if it is not covered while she is praying. He then begins to juxtapose that verse with modern Christianity not being friendly towards homosexuals. Davis makes the argument to Stephen that sections of the New Testament are out of date, and do not make sense in modern society. Stephen, who is still trying to understand Davis' commitment to the church while being gay, disagrees with his argument.
When Davis and Stephen finally get home, Davis tells Stephan that he has been outcast by his entire family for being gay. Even though Stephen doesn't fully understand homosexuality within the context of Christianity, he can't help but feeling sorry for Davis. Stephen is also quick to point out that if Stephen's family were devoted Christians they would not turn away their own family.
The following day Davis heads to the airport to pick up his boyfriend P.J. When they arrive back at the house Davis is anxious to get Stephen acquainted with P.J. so that Stephen can begin to feel more comfortable around gay couples. After the sun goes down Stephen makes up the bed in the guest room for himself, in order to avoid being witness to any affection between Davis and P.J.
The next day Stephen also makes a trip to the airport to pick up his girlfriend Mercii. A few nights later, Mercii and Stephen head out to dinner on a double date with Davis and P.J. Over the meal the two couples compare each others relationships, and for the first time Stephen begins to understand that he can't discredit P.J. and Davis' relationship just because they are both men. Stephen admits that he is beginning to break out of his comfort zone a bit and is slowly growing more accepting of Davis' homosexuality.
