The Real World Chicago's seven recruits shared a converted warehouse building in the art-edgy neighborhood of Bucktown/Wicker Park. With the windy city as a backdrop, this season witnessed an on-again, off-again romance between Kyle and Keri, meanwhile Tonya struggled with a chronic illness and Chris dealt with his recovery from alcoholism. In addition, we watched as the cast learned about the sudden and tragic events of September 11. This season's cast job consisted of a number of different assignments for the Chicago Park District. For the first 2 months, several cast mates manned the beaches of Lake Michigan as lifeguards, while others worked with youngsters on the painting of a mural in an urban park. With the beaches closing after Labor Day, the cast was then recruited to "Chicagoween" to create a local storytelling theater for children in Daley Plaza, part of Chicago's annual Halloween celebration.
