Dew Circuit Breakout Live Finale
The Myriad Wins Dew Circuit Breakout '07! You hit the polls hard and decided the fate of three up-and-coming new bands. Your chosen finalists The Myriad, The Material and Them Terribles performed LIVE head-to-head in MTV's Times Square Studios, rocking sets of impressive originals and cover songs before a live audience and celebrity judges. Coming out on top with the most votes was Seattle five-piece The Myriad. If that kind of exposure wasn't enough, The Myriad earns a live music video put into rotation with the heavyweights. They'll get airtime on MTV2 shows, a song on the Rock Band game and much more. During the month of September, we asked bands across the country to sign up for a shot at MTV2 stardom... and THOUSANDS of talented artists answered the call. MTV2's expert music and talent panel checked out every band and (man, it was a tough call) hand-selected 12 worthy competitors. Then it was YOUR TURN to pick your favorites. From 12 bands to one winner, you cast your votes and helped make history happen on Dew Circuit Breakout '07. ABOUT THE COMPETITION The hunt is on for the next big thing in music. Is your band MTV2 ready? How did bands like Halifax, Hellogoodbye, Yellowcard, Taking Back Sunday and Hawthorne Heights get their big break? By taking part in MTV2's Dew Circuit Breakout, that's how! And now it could be your band's turn to become the next big thing! Starting September 10, your band can sign up to compete in the Dew Circuit Breakout, where America's hottest new band will be discovered! Not in a band? Don't fret, 'cause you'll get to help pick the winner by casting your vote! Yup, everyone has the chance to participate. This year MTV2 and Mountain Dew team up to bring you a totally new Dew Circuit Breakout. What's new? For the first time ever, we're opening the competition up to the masses, giving bands the ability to wow fans and MTV2 music execs alike right here. Bands can create profiles and upload content to show who they are and what their music sounds like. That's right, bands will be able to upload songs, videos, pics ... whatever they think will impress! 12 lucky bands will be hand-picked by MTV2's expert music and talent panel, then the competition really begins. There are three eliminations leading up to the Live Finale, where 2007's victor will be crowned. Sounds cool, right? Dude, and the payoff is tremendous! The Top 6 Finalists get a visit from MTV crews in their hometown and filmed in action for segments on air! The Top 3 Finalists that make the cut will be flown to New York City to perform during the Dew Circuit Breakout Finale, LIVE from Times Square, where our winner will be announced. The victor will be thrown back on stage to star in their very first MTV music video for rotation on-air. This year's top dog will get TONS of exposure on MTV and MTV2, including being strongly considered for MTV's Artist Of The Week. In addition, they'll grab some air time on Discover & Download and Unleashed, where the latest, most anticipated, most cutting-edge work from the biggest players in rock and hip hop premiere on MTV2. Other gifts from our friends and partners will pop up along the way. What more could an up-and-coming band ask for?!? As you can tell, this isn't your ordinary, everyday battle-of-the-bands competition. Dew Circuit Breakout has a proven track record of finding the next big thing and giving them their first (big) taste of success. Like we said, this competition has helped launch the careers of several of today's hottest bands. After ruling the Dew Circuit, Yellowcard went on to have the smash hits "Ocean Avenue" and "Lights and Sounds." Taking Back Sunday headlined the Warped Tour and had the hits "MakeDamnSure" and "Liar (It Takes One to Know One)." Hellogoodbye's Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs! did some damage on the Billboard album chart. Hawthorne Heights became emo darlings. And Halifax has been steaming up MTV and MTV2 and ripping up the road. Excited yet? Hell yeah! This could be your band's big break! Throw your hat in the ring and get ready to vote, vote, vote!
