As the Making the Band 4 competition heats up, Diddy doesn't want the guys to get too comfortable. That's why he's making them perform live at the legendary B.B. King Blues Club in New York City. A lot is riding on this performance because when all is said and done 10 hopefuls must go! It's going to get interesting.
But this next cut won't just be based on their live performance; Diddy will also be taking the guys' determination and drive into consideration. That means if the Making the Band boys have to stay up all night, buy 20 cheesecakes, walk the five boroughs and sing outside in the freezing cold for 12 hours, that's want they're going to have to do to make it in this game.
At 2 a.m., Diddy gives the Making the Band hopefuls a rude awakening. He tells them that their task will be to get to know NYC, his hometown, a whole lot better. They must go to Times Square and sing for two hours, raising money for the homeless. Then, in Brooklyn, they'll need to pick up some cheesecake. Yes, it's happening again! Next, they'll walk to Queens and then head to the Bronx to sing in front of Yankee Stadium. To end an already long day, they'll have to walk across the George Washington Bridge and back -- all while singing. Diddy gives a harsh warning that if they don't do everything as a team, they'll all be cut and he'll start the season over. Whoa. It's time to separate the men from the boys!
Having seen what happened during the first Making the Band, when that group failed to successfully fetch a cheesecake, these men are ready to do whatever Diddy says. Well, most of them at least. It's cold out, and Anzeo makes it clear from the start that he's not thrilled about performing under these conditions because he's afraid he's going to lose his voice. In fact, he's the only guy who refuses to sing at all.
After more than 12 grueling hours of walking the five boroughs, the only thing that stops the fellas from completing their task are the police, who tell them that they can't sing while crossing the bridge. Anzeo is thrilled when the guys finally head back to see Diddy. At the Bad Boy Entertainment office, the group proudly hands Diddy his coveted cheesecake. Diddy congratulates the men for their perseverance and admits he's surprised that they all made. Good job, guys!
On the night of the big performance at the B.B. King Blues Club, Diddy joins the "dream team" judges to watch the groups perform. Most singers, including Donnie -- who is affectionately called "the white boy" -- really impress Diddy. But not Anzeo. Despite objecting to Diddy's singing cheesecake challenge because he wanted to preserve his voice for the show, Anzeo's vocals are not up to par. Another Making the Bander who fails to impress Diddy is Maurice, who tears off his shirt while performing. He may think he's too sexy for his shirt but the stunt isn't sexy to the judges.
After the performances, an impressed Diddy decides to cut just four of the guys instead of the originally planned ten. The four that get cut are the rebel without a cheesecake, Anzeo, topless Maurice, Tyrice and Makio. Sorry, boys!
