Fearing the future of his friendship with his crew, Ryan decides maybe it's a little too early to remain friends with Taylor after her ugly breakup with Casey.
Recently, there's been a ton of upheaval in the life of Ryan Sheckler. He broke up with his girlfriend Kayla and witnessed his dad Randy's split from Christi. But it's the chaotic breakup between his best friends Casey and Taylor that is causing the most drama, and he's afraid his tight-knit crew may be in jeopardy of disbanding.
As Ryan tosses the pigskin around with Tony and Mitch, he reports that he and Casey have made up since their fight. But Casey is still sad about splitting with Taylor, so Ryan feels that trying to stay friends with Casey and Taylor is making things awkward. Ryan's not sure what to do.
There is some good news on the horizon, though. For years, Ryan's youngest brother, Kane, has been riding a Razor scooter, much to the horror of Ryan and Shane. Now, the littlest Sheckler has finally made the switch to a skateboard and Ryan wants to encourage Kane to keep it up.
One day, Ryan finds Kane practicing in the backyard skate park, so he grabs a board and joins him. After giving Kane a few pointers on how to land a kickflip, Ryan asks what prompted Kane to ditch the scooter. Kane says he had a dream that showed him that skateboarding has a lot more to offer. Ryan couldn't agree more!
Ryan drops by his agent Steve's office to go over his schedule for the week and Steve says that the recent Casey-Taylor drama is distracting Ryan. He agrees that he should stop fixating on his friends and start focusing on skating and the great opportunities that are coming his way, like being a guest on Ryan Seacrest's radio show and The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. Going to Los Angeles might be just what he needs right now.
Later, Ryan heads to Taylor's house to tell her they can't hang out for awhile. Things need to cool down between her and Casey before they can go back to being friends. But it's not going to be easy for Ryan to turn his back on such a good friend.
Before heading to L.A., Ryan promises Kane that they'll skate together when he gets back. Hopefully Ryan's trip to L.A. will give him some time to clear his head.
Once in L.A., Ryan's excited to hang out with Jereme Rogers from the Plan B skate team. During dinner with the Plan B crew, Ryan reveals he's still trying to figure out what to do about "the Taylor situation." Facing a future with Casey as his roommate, Ryan is unsure whether it's fair to keep Taylor around if it will make Casey uncomfortable. At this point, phasing Taylor out of his life seems like the easiest thing to do.
Early the next morning, Ryan rises to do an interview with Ryan Seacrest, where he talks about his quest to find the right girl. Afterwards, Ryan and Steve have lunch and discuss -- what else? -- Taylor. When Ryan mentions phasing her out, Steve reminds him of how she's always been there for him. Ryan realizes he has to think things through a little bit more.
Back in San Clemente, Calif., Casey and Mitch come over to watch Ryan on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. Although Ryan knows that being on Leno means he's "made it," he can't help but feel like something's missing -- namely, Taylor.
The next day, Ryan grabs a pizza with Casey, Mitch and Tony and tells them that he can't stop being friends with Taylor. He tells Casey that he's still 100% committed to their friendship and makes a promise to stay focused on skating. No more drama!
Later, Kane announces that he put his Razor up for sale online. When he checks to see if it sold, he discovers that it has fetched $100! To celebrate, Ryan takes Kane to the Vans skate park to meet Jereme Rogers. Kane is in heaven. Seeing Kane's newfound interest in skateboarding reminds Ryan that whatever problems arise in life, skateboarding will always be there to take his mind off them.
