Daniella Pineda was born in Oakland, California. She studied journalism and sociology at Mills College with the hopes of becoming a war correspondent, and she worked for a short time as a public radio reporter upon graduation. She then came to New York City in 2010 to pursue a writing career. In her first audition as a writer-performer for a pilot for Comedy Central, she was discovered by a manager/producer and thus began her acting career.

Daniella has been making YouTube videos that received great buzz on sites like the Huffington Post and Jezebel. She has worked with Ed Burns on three films, including "Newlyweds," "Doggy Bags," and "The Fitzgerald Family Christmas." In 2012 she booked her first pilot, NBC's "Midnight Sun." Soon after that, she booked a recurring role on 'Homeland.' Soon after THAT, she booked one of the lead roles in the CW's 'The Originals,' a spinoff of 'The Vampire Diaries.' In 2013, Daniella was featured in 'Backstage' as one of "30 Actors on the Rise." She has also starred in several College Humor videos, in addition to other credits for Comedy Central, TNT and MTV.

As a writer Daniella is working on "Cocaine Sleepover" -- a dark comedy horror she is writing, producing, and plans to star in.
