When Tater shows up late to work and starts busting on Christian's Oldsmobile Cutless, Christian challenges Tater to a race--his Cutless against Tater's Camaro. The stakes are high since Christian gets to make Tater do whatever he wants if he wins, while Tater gets the week off, with pay, if he wins. Both are confident that they will come out on top.
In more business-related news, MPH magazine approaches Fast Inc. looking for a beater car that they can really knock the tar out of. They're looking for the kind of car that deserves to be demolished, and they are looking to have a live chimpanzee to do the demolishing.
This is bad news for Tater, whose Camaro has an engine full of holes and a beat-up suspension. He can't show his car the love it needs while driving around L.A. looking for a monkey.
After Tater is unsuccessful, Todd is eventually able to track down a chimp named Cody and a beater car for the MPH photo shoot. All parties meet up in Joshua Tree for a serious scrapping party. First the guys try to teach Cody to drive, and surprisingly he seems to have somewhat of an understanding of how a car works. After deciding that letting Cody drive isn't going to work, the guys simply suffice with allowing Cody to go to town on the beater with a golf club. When Cody is done with the clubs, the guys take over and start the real damage, pelting the car with paint ball and potato guns. The final show down comes when they put the beater up against a Hummer in a game of tug-o-war. The beater gets destroyed, MPH has what they need for the photo shoot, and Todd has made a new friend in Cody.
Things are getting close to the wire, and Tater still can't get his Camaro in working order, so he makes a last-minute switch and begins to soup up his faithful Tater truck. Tater works until the last minute trying to modify his car, but it is no use. When the race begins, Christian and his Cutless leave Tater and truck in a cloud of smoke and dust. At the end of the race Tater is a little anxious about what Christian is going to have him do.
The next day Todd, Tater, and Christian all meet up at a scrap yard, the air is cold, the sky is dark, and it is raining hard. Christian has chosen Tater's fate, or rather the fate of his Camaro. The Camaro surfaces on fork lift and with in minutes it is smashed flat and taken away as a block of scrap and metal.
