Growing up as the daughter of hip-hop star Cee-Lo has been amazing for 18-year-old Sierra. Even her Super Sweet 15 was the envy of all her friends, with a special guest appearance from superstar Bow Wow.
It's three years later and Sierra is more divalicious than ever. She wants to follow in her dad's footsteps and become a singer. She thinks that as the daughter of a celebrity, everything should be handed to her on a silver platter, including stardom. But her mother thinks Sierra needs to stop expecting the world to come to her and comes up with a way for this diva to learn some hustle.
That's why Sierra is being Exiled all the way to the South Pacific island of Vanuatu to live with a chief's daughter, Enneth. Soon, she finds herself living in the buggy jungles of the Lamakara Village under the shadow of an active volcano. It's not long before Sierra realizes that in Vanuatu, "who you are" and "who you know" mean absolutely nothing. Can this self-proclaimed diva survive in a world full of thorny vines instead of velvet ropes? And will Sierra get respect when she actually has to earn it?
Once in Vanuatu, Sierra meets the tribal chief and his daughter, Enneth, who wastes no time in telling Sierra she cannot have pressed hair and must lose all the jewelry she has on. Next, Sierra is dressed and even has her face painted for a special ceremony. Next, the girls prepare dinner for the village and, soon enough, Sierra claims that this tribal thing isn't for her and doesn't agree with the local cuisine of pork.
The next day, Enneth and her cousin take Sierra to the garden to dig up yams. Sierra eventually gives up on the gardening saying that she can go without eating for the rest of the week.
Later, the women of the village are sent to the sea by the tribal chief to bring him back a fish. But Sierra sits on the beach and watches the other girls do their job. Unfortunately, no one catches a fish, so they must bring the chief a chicken instead. Luckily, Sierra finds a new sense of confidence when she catches a chicken with her bare hands!
Sierra admits that being Exiled has been a wake-up call for her, just seeing how hard all the women in the village work. After another day of work, Sierra shows Enneth a Rolling Stone magazine that features an interview with her father Cee-Lo.
Before leaving the next day, the tribal chief presents Sierra with a grass skirt. Enneth also wants to "share tears" before Sierra heads home. Arriving home, Sierra immediately tells her family that her work ethic has been reformed and that she now realizes she needs to work that much harder in order to achieve her goals.
