Can love overcome all obstacles? When Ashley and Byron decide to tie the knot, the two are forced to deal with skeptical parents and differences in race and religion.
When the couple's families meet for the first time, everyone but the bride and groom-to-be seem to be worried about the union. While Ashley's family comes from strong Mexican American roots, Byron's stems from the Southern Baptist tradition. Ashley stands as the first member of her family to marry outside of her race, and her mother worries that the strain will break her family apart. The families also question the strength of Ashley and Byron's relationship since the pair are most frequently found fighting.
As the couple prepares for the wedding ahead, they seem to clash over every decision, from Byron's tuxedo to the band for the ceremony. While Byron wants a loud red suit and hip-hop on the dance floor, Ashley wants to keep things traditional. When the two head to church for a compatibility test, Ashley insists that they go through the focus questions since will only marry in the Catholic Church. Although Byron breezes through the test, Ashley struggles when she reaches a question that asks if she thinks she's jumping into marriage too quickly.
With the wedding decisions mounting, Byron becomes upset when he realizes that his family has had little to do with the preparations. Even though he expects his parents to be more involved with the plans, his father admits to wishing his son would stick with sports and marry a woman in his race.
The night before the wedding, Byron and Ashley decide to spend the evening apart. Ashley starts getting cold feet about the next day, but Byron assures her that they'll make it through the long run. As his fiancé heads home for the evening, Byron explains that he wants to be alone and have some space before the wedding. But, after his soon-to-be wife leaves, his friends pop up unexpectedly with beer. When Ashley drops back in to pick up a missing cell phone charger, she explodes over the scene, accusing Byron of lying. The situation becomes so heated that Byron threatens to call off the wedding, but after the situation calms, the two decide to stick with their plan.
Despite all the drama, Ashley and Byron tie the knot amongst their friends and family, and just one month later, Ashley's mom is already asking when the newlyweds plan on having their first child.
