Jessica, 19, and Frank, 22, have been together since she was in the ninth grade. Well, most of the time. After five years of dating interrupted by the occasional break up, they've finally decided to seal the deal for good.
With Jess expecting, Frank is determined to step up and do the right thing. But Anthony, Frank's older brother/best man, isn't sure Frank is fully aware of what he's getting into, or, more importantly, the endless nights of partying that he's getting himself out of. Furthermore, he believes Frank may only be getting married for the sake of his unborn child. Anthony's plea to his brother is a simple, yet heartfelt: "Dude, you're a moron."
Anthony's not the only one of Frank's sibling's to give him a hard time about seeking Jess's hand in marriage at such a young age. His four older sisters are also worried about the future of their marriage, remembering the (roughly) estimated 2.5 billion times they've broken up and gotten back together in this past half-decade.
In the days leading up to the wedding, Frank struggles to withstand his brother's skepticism, not to mention the nearly overwhelming temptation of a bachelor party. After a tense game of ice hockey, Frank let's his older bro know that he's going to have to start treating Jess like a part of the family.
Meanwhile Jess does some stepping-up of her own, confronting Frank's sisters in an attempt to bridge the gaps caused by the couple's less-than-stable past. The night before the ceremony, Jess takes on the stress of a planning a wedding and fitting in with a new and intimidating large family, not to mention the maddening hormonal fluctuations that come with pregnancy. "Sometimes," she reflects "it seems like me and Frank against the world."
She may be right; Anthony continues grilling Frank even as they drive together to the ceremony. However the true spirit of brotherly love shines through in this south Philly suburb, and the two set things right again just before the wedding.
After the vows, all the hard work pays off as Jess is congratulated by her new sisters and brother-in-law, and, in the limo on the way home, she even gets a new nickname to welcome her to the family.
