If there is one rule Nolan knows he can live by, it's expect the unexpected. However, that rule can sometimes work in your favor.
While everyone has gotten together for dinner, Blake makes it a point to let his friends know that he intends on paying for the entire group. Shortly after, he announces that he has been booked to be a dancer on Janet Jackson's upcoming world tour. Not to be left out, Kenny also announces that he'll be flying to New York the next day to dance with Jennifer Lopez at a free concert celebrating gay pride.
Meanwhile the near future is not looking as bright for Nolan. He still has yet to find a new place to live, and his father is still not talking to him. Just when things are seaming their bleakest, he gets a call from his agent who informs him that one of the dancers for J-Lo's show has backed out, and she specifically asked that Nolan fill the vacant spot. Even though it seems like he's got the world against him, Nolan is hyped about heading off to New York City to dance with Jennifer Lopez, and possibly see his father.
The next day, Kenny and Nolan get on a plane and travel to New York for their first rehearsal with J-Lo. The guys are taken off guard initially when J-Lo shows up in person at the rehearsals to walk them through the pieces. After the rehearsal, Nolan calls his father who finally picks up the phone. The conversation starts off slow, but after Nolan tells him that he's in New York to dance for J-Lo, his father begins to warm up to him. Nolan invites his dad to the following day's show, and his father accepts.

In spite of everything that's happened to him recently, the he girls all agree that they are extremely proud of him. The news hits Blake hard as his face goes expressionless when he hears about all that Nolan persevered through.
The next day after the second J-Lo rehearsal, Nolan and J-Lo sit down and discuss the pressures of performing. Nolan opens up to her about the situation with his father, while the two have a heart-to-heart J-Lo reaffirms with him how important it is to not let the obstacles of his life decrease his passion for being a dancer.
That night, Nolan and Kenny get hype each other up before their big performance. When Nolan calls his father to find out if he has arrived he can't get through. Before J-Lo goes on stage Nolan's father shows up and the energy from the audience is electric. When J-Lo steps on stage the crowd goes wild. After an amazing performance J-Lo and the guys congratulate each other and hang out. Nolan meets up with his dad who tells him he's proud of him.
When Nolan and Kenny return to L.A. it's back to business as usual when they head to Millennium for yet another master class. Before the session starts Blake approaches Nolan and congratulates him on his recent booking. Nolan thanks him for his positive support and the guys shake hands.
