  1. Rap took hold of Kurupt when he was just 8 years old. He idolized Rakim and emulated him on the streets of Philadelphia. In the mid-'80s, Kurupt moved to South Central, Los Angeles, where he found himself right smack in the middle of the burgeoning gansta rap movement that shot out of the region.

After befriending Snoop Dogg, Kurupt was introduced to music entrepreneur Suge Knight, owner of Death Row Records, who was looking to sign some hot young talent. The rest is now hip-hop history.

Kurupt appeared on several genre-defining albums, including Dr. Dre's The Chronic and the Poetic Justice soundtrack, and then formed Tha Dogg Pound with Snoop Dogg and Daz Dillinger. At one point, he was the executive VP of Death Row Records.

In 1998, Kurupt released his solo debut, Kuruption, and was quickly lured onto the silver screen. He has appeared in such movies as The Wash, Half Past Dead, Hollywood Homicide and Johnson Family Vacation. Now he's taking his talent to the small screen as rocker Sebastian Bach's mentor on Celebrity Rap Superstar. Will this gansta be able to tame the metalhead's wild ways and help him win the grand prize?
