  1. Born in South Central, Los Angeles, Too Short was one of the first West Coast rap stars to emerge from the region. In 1983, when he was just 17, he released Don't Stop Rappin' on a tiny independent label, selling it out of the back of his car.

In 1986, Too Short started his own label, Dangerous Music, and recorded Born to Mack. He drove around the region performing and hawking his wares, selling a whopping 50,000 copies. In fact, the buzz surrounding Born to Mack became so big that it swept across the country and reached the New York office of Jive Records, who signed the rapper and re-released the album. Backed by a major label, the album went gold, selling more than 500,000 copies. His next few albums, including Life Is ... Too Short and Getting' It (Album Number Ten), all went platinum.

During the course of his career, Too Short has released 16 albums, 10 of which have gone gold and/or platinum. But his influence on hip-hop culture doesn't stop there. He has collaborated with the likes of Jay-Z, Jermaine Dupri and Lil Jon. He appeared in the movie Menace II Society and now he's mentoring playmate Kendra Wilkinson in the art of hip-hop on Celebrity Rap Superstar.
