  1. With his gravelly voice and wisecrack lyrics, Tone-Loc soared from near obscurity to stardom in 1989 with songs like "Wild Thing" and "Funky Cold Medina." His debut album, Loc-ed After Dark, became the second rap album to top The Billboard 200 album chart. (The Beastie Boys' Licensed to Ill paved the way for him.)

Born in the West Coast rap breeding grounds of Compton, Calif., Tone-Loc was once a member of the street gang the Crips. He turned his life around when he decided to focus his energy on spitting rhymes. The first video he ever made, the grainy "Wild Thing," reportedly cost only a few hundred dollars.

In 1991, Tone released Cool Hand Loc, which was his last studio album. He then turned his attention to acting. He has appeared in such movies as Poetic Justice, Surf Ninjas, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Spy Hard and Titan A.E. And he's been on various TV shows, including Roc, King of the Hill and Touched by an Angel. Now it's time for him turn his focus back to music as Perez Hilton's mentor on Celebrity Rap Superstar! Will Loc be able to turn the flamboyant blogarazzi into a bonafide hip-hop bad boy?
