The new season of The Ashlee Simpson Show kicks off as we watch Ashlee begin her transformation from tomboy to girly girl. Ashlee moves into her beautiful, new house and vows that her first step toward being girly-er is actually keeping her place neat and orderly. Her best friend and roommate fails to show up on moving day, which causes quite a ruckus. Ashlee's mom, Tina, finds her roommate's absence to be simply rude. But as the dust settles, Ashlee and a few friends, including her beau, Ryan Cabrera, hang out and enjoy her new crib.
Before Ashlee can even settle in her new digs, she is off to New York City for a whirlwind of press, photo shoots and one major performance. The highlight of Ashlee's time in the Big Apple is her appearance on Saturday Night Live. To relieve some stress, Ashlee's two best friends tag along for the concrete jungle adventure. Later, as Ashlee and her pals are chilling in their hotel room, she receives a card and white roses. They are a gift from Ryan, to wish her the best on her SNL performance.
Ashlee awakens in the Big Apple ready for a big day, but begins to notice some trouble with her voice. Nevertheless, the show must go on, so to fuel up for the day ahead, Ashlee and her friends order room service and pig out on a lavish breakfast. Later they hit the Manhattan shops and Ashlee eyes a hot pair of snowboarding boots, but faces a serious dilemma--should she buy them in red or green? Her friends all vote for red, but Ashlee goes against the flow and chooses green.
Her next stop is a photo shoot for Allure magazine, which she is very excited about. At the shoot, a stylist asks if Ashlee is willing to go topless for the shots. She considers it, and says she will as long as she's "comfortable," but later decides against it after remembering Angelina Jolie did a similar shoot. She ends up decked out in a silk scarf, a wide-brimmed felt hat and a blazer. Ashlee is thrilled when the shoot is complete, and both Ashlee and her mom agree that the pictures look fabulous.
It's finally time to head over to SNL, and Ashlee begins to grow increasingly worried about the state of her voice. Despite practices with her coach, and even during her rehearsal on stage, Ashlee's voice is obviously in a weakened state. Flustered and overwhelmed, Ashlee considers her options. It is suggested that she sing with a backing track, and Ashlee is left to ponder her quickly approaching performance. To be continued...
