The Ashlee Simpson Show › Ep. 106

Ashlee's got her hands full with her voice problems, upcoming show and now a Pizza Hut commercial starring her and Jessica. The commercial is set on a ranch, and Ashlee is supposed to be dressed as a cowboy while Jessica wears a cute, girly outfit for the shoot. Both of the ladies admit that they are high maintenance-- but just don't care, and spend more than enough time primping for the shoot. Ashlee isn't too happy with her clothing even after all the primping, especially after she sees the pictures from the first take and realizes that with her flat hair and baggy shirt she looks like the "boy sister" next to blonde and beautiful Jess. Ashlee finally fixes the situation by changing her hair and buttoning up the shirt, and in the end the shoot seems to go just fine.

The next day Ashlee has a follow up appointment with her voice doctor, where she learns that her achin' vocal chords are due to a case of acid-reflex disease mixed in with a deviated septum. Ashlee isn't happy with the news, but is psyched to learn that her little problem can be fixed with a new diet, plastic nose retainer, and a voice coach. Definite nerd gear, but at least Ashlee might not even have to cancel her upcoming show.

Sure enough, the date arrives and Ashlee is set to perform at The Knitting Factory for her very first live performance. After the hairdresser and a makeup artist work their magic, Ashlee is ready to perform, and she heads off to the concert hall with her mom in tow. The two are running a little late but are still determined to make Ashlee's sound check. Well, they were set to make it, but then they manage to get a little lost in the Hollywood Hills and soon it seems like everything is going downhill. The two can't figure how to get to the bottom of the mountain, and when they do finally make it, they hit gridlock traffic. Ashlee starts freaking and realizes that there is a good possibility she will miss her first sound check. Luckily at the last minute, the traffic clears and Ashlee just makes it on time. The sound check is far less than great, and everyone is wondering if Ashlee will really be able to perform a live set. The pressure is building, and Ashlee is feeling it more than anyone. Jessica soon arrives with Nick, and seeing her big sis calms Ashlee's nerves immensely.

The concert kicks off and the first song goes excellently. Ashlee relaxes and really starts to feel the music, groovin' all over the stage, a bit too much at one point - she stumbles a little less than gracefully, but continues to shake her booty like a pro. Ashlee dedicates her last song to Jess and belts her heart out, feeling extremely proud to be proving herself in front of her friends and family.

When the concert ends, Ashlee is thrilled as her fans rush up to congratulate her and get autographs. It seems as if Ashlee did all of that worrying for nothing, because the concert was a success and Ashlee's career is set for the stars.
