The Ashlee Simpson Show › Ep. 105

The stress is beginning to mount for Ashlee as her career gets a little more hectic than usual. For starters, Ashlee has begun working on a new song about emerging from Jessica's shadow. Unlike Jessica who always knew she was destined to be a singer, Ashlee didn't discover her passion for performance until she worked as one of Jessica's backup dancers on a music video.

Ashlee heads off to her first professional photo shoot, and has a hard time trying to find an outfit that distinguishes her as an individual artist. Ashlee is determined not to look too girly or like Jessica; but when the makeup artist glues on fake eyelashes and Ashlee dons a pink shawl, she decides she looks like a clown, and begins to wonder if anyone at all is listening to her. The photo shoot ends and Jessica calls to give an update on her Boston appearance where over 7,000 people have arrived. Ashlee is stunned and realizes that her stardom has a long way to go before it is on the same scale as Jessica's. Ashlee hopes that someday she too will share in on her sister's level of fame.

Ashlee heads off to put together her band, and picks out some talented guys to serve as her backup sound. A couple of days later, the band is ready for rehearsals, and the "new" dark haired Ashlee picks up her place behind the mic, more than ready to pump out some live music. To her horror Ashlee can't believe how bad she sounds, and gets so freaked out that she starts to wonder if she will ever be able to perform live. Ashlee calls in Eric, her voice coach to help with rehearsal but manages to completely lose her voice before he even arrives. Eric recommends that Ashlee not speak for a few days and try to take it easy.

The next day at the doc, Ashlee learns that something may be growing on her vocal cord. If this turns out to be true, it will mean bad news for Ashlee and could have a huge negative impact on her career. We'll have to wait 'til next week to see if Ashlee has sung her last song.
