Wow, y'all, wow. Did you guys catch the trailer for Miley: The Movement? We did and can't get over how many looks we peeped in under two minutes]]>â€”Miley's preparations for the VMAs and her life on the road, which A) does not look easy and B) requires quite a few wardrobe changes. So that you're well-versed in Miley style by the time the documentary hits TVs for real, we've broken down the trailer look by look, including each *bling* look. Yeah, we're that thorough when it comes to Miley.

THE OUTFITS

For her interview, Miley chose a spread-collared white and blue polka dot shirt, with striped sleeves. Her makeup game is v. lowkey: her eyes are lined and mascara-ed in a Wrecking Ball way, and she has on some light gloss. Also, the BEST eyebrows. Natural looking and perfect for an interview, TBH.

In some behind-the-scenes shots, we get to see Miles on set at photo shoots: in this one, she's lounging on a chair (my fave choice for lounging, too): a patent leather bomber jacket, black underwear, and a temporary rattail.

This BTS shot gives us a peek at Miley in a bright blue, ripstop nylon varsity jacket, a white tank top, and a bright red lip.

Here, just chillin' in the studio with nude VMA performance predecessor, Britney Spears, Miley opts for a white, black, and red long-sleeved, color-blocked, crop-top sweatshirt and a white patent leather skirt. Brit is in all-black and LOLs when Miley says she wants to shoot hot dogs out of a gun at the VMAs? Are hot dog guns a thing? We have some research to do.

This look is one of many that shows off Miley's preference for white crop tops: we'll call this white crop top #1. While she tends to wear white on white (see: the "Wrecking Ball" video), Miles has paired this mesh sleeved shirt with baggy jeans. This is a rehearsal outfit, so you know it's easy to dance/gyrate in.

White crop-top #2, paired with white high-waisted shorts, a.k.a. white jorts. This look is a lotta Miley: she's giving us her VMA baby raver buns and some #swaggy fuzzy unicorn slippers. She's just bein' Miley both on and off stage.

White crop-top #3, paired with a floaty white skater skirt and some TALL hair. Miley pretends to be clawing on the glass, which is def giving off zoo vibes: only a thin piece of glass, reinforced with a steel bar, keeps Smilers at bay.

This is white crop-top #3, but from the front, where it appears to have clear band-aids stuck all over it. Miley tells a fan how much she likes her onesie, one which she has painted "Sex, Drugs, and Rap." Sure, #YOLO.

Here Miley breaks out the classic "I <3 NY" t-shirt slogan, but, of course, doesn't wear it written on a boring old white shirt. Nah. Instead, she has it on a black sequin crop top which, though we can't see in the trailer, we know she paired with fuzzy white hotpants.

This is ~casual~ Miley on a plane with her mom in, what looks like (OMG), a non-cropped sweatshirt and Versace Versus belt print leggings. Also, based on the way her legs are crossed, she is very flexible.

Finally, we get to the actual night of the VMAs where we were treated to three looks. Featured here was the first: her red carpet swag: vintage bejeweled Dolce & Gabbana, baby buns, and diamond$.

Then, a final shot of her, onstage at the VMAs in her furry, silver, bear-face leotard. IDK if people remember this look (or the not-featured patent nude two-piece that came after it). I don't think many people talked about her performance? LOLOLOL, JK!!!

THE BLING

In addition to her preference for the color white, the lady also has a preference for this shiny yellow metal. On the streets it goes by gold, I think. SHE HAS A LOT OF IT. Here we have gold rings, gold earrings, even gold glittery nail polish. Gold on gold on gold.

Oh look, an earring Miley fashioned out of a safety pin. JK, it's an earring made to look like a gold safety pin. She didn't just stick a random clothes fastener she found through her ear like all the cool kids did in 7th grade. #maturity

Just a few gold necklaces Miley wears to sit around on a bed, lip-synching to herself. LBR, you do the same thing every night.

Miley's left hand, decked out in #gold and her huge diamond-y engagement ring. Merp.

And finally, a shot of Miley in the car on her way to the VMAs. She's swapped out her gold earrings for diamond and switched her multiple gold chains to one diamond chain, and is ready to "make them talk for two weeks, rather than, like, two seconds." Mission accomplished, bb, mission accomplished.

Although people still can't stop talking about Miley's twerkfest and roaming foam hand, that wasn't ALL that happened at the 2013 VMAs. We caught up with celebs on the red carpet to chat about what advice they'd give to their younger selves. Here's what they had to say:

When we asked celebs for their words of wisdom, the general consensus was: "Chill out!"

"I wish I just knew that it was OK to be 15, and not a grown-up," said "Awkward" actress Greer Grammer. "It's not that big of a deal," "Rivals II" reality star and two-time breast cancer survivor Diem Brown said of teenage drama.]]>Â Â Â Machine Gun Kelly recommends using protection during sex. "When you don't wear a condom, you can get a girl pregnant," he told young fans. And the rapper is right! 3 in 10 girls will get pregnant at least once before the age of 20.

"Girl Get Your Mind Right" star Tionna Smalls obvi wants her young fans to get their minds right. She'd tell her "Smalls" self to finish school without any major hiatuses. And speaking of girls getting their minds right, "Jersey Shore" guidette Deena wishes she had been less trusting of guys as a teen. "Never trust what guys say," she advised. Hah! We wouldn't say neverrrrr, but it is important to be in healthy friendships and relationships with people you trust. Love Is Respect, after all, and people who love you shouldn't lie to you!

If you weren't completely familiar with the art of "twerking" during MTV's last "Weekend Brunch," it's a safe bet you're an expert by now. Miley Cyrus, pop music's newest bad girl, stole the show at the 2013 Video Music Awards with her over-the-top, tongue-wagging, booty-heavy performance, and as soon as she ripped off her cartoonish onesie, bent over and shook that tush for the whole world to see, she started a wildfire on the Interwebs. Almost a week later, the embers are still smoldering, and the dialogue is anything but over.

Whether they were watching from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn or perched in front of their TVs at home, MTV stars were among those who couldn't help but offer up their social media two cents about Twerkgate 2013. Some, like Nikki Glaser, jumped to Miley's defense, while others, like]]>Â Mackenzie of "Teen Mom 3," were a bit more critical. And then there were]]>Â Aubrey O'Day of recently reunited]]>Â Danity Kane and JWOWW, who became straight-up fangirls by the show's end. Either way, the people HAVE. NOT. STOPPED. TALKING.

Learn How To Recreate Becky G's VMAs Nail Art!

Long before the actual VMAs show got underway, we scoured the red carpet to find the stars who'd gone the extra style-mile with finer details on their digits. After narrowing it down to Rita Ora, the sisters NERVO, Becky G and Nessa from "Girl Code," we left it up to you to decide who had the ~most ballinest~ nail art at this year's awards. Drumroll, please]]>â€¦

With her Brooklyn-inspired, splattered and sparkling, crazy-colorful design, you chose Becky G, the lovely and talented 16-year-old rapper who just so happens to be one of COVERGIRL's own! The first-time attendee rocked "urban swag" in full effect thanks to COVERGIRL nail artist, Ayana Clark, who helped us recreate Becky's winning look for you to try at home!

First thing's first, you gotta create a base. Clark used a clear, Covergirl base coat (that doubles as a top coat!) before applying white as the core color, "because when you put bold colors over it, it pops better and makes it vibrant," Clark says. Next, Clark sponged on splashes of primary colors like blue, red and Lemon Drop yellow (from the Glosstini mini polish collection) before getting graphic with free-hand designs, like Becky G's art-deco dots. Finally, go 'head and get your glitter on, giiiiiirl! Finish it all off with a clear top coat and VOILA! You just upped your nail game.

Totally easy-breezy, right? (Says the girl who can't even apply polish to her own right hand without looking like she dipped it in a 5-gallon bucket of Benjamin Moore.) If you wanna be like Becky G and need a little visual assistance, check out the video below!

There are the VMAs. But there's also the craziness of the red carpet at the VMAs, and we were there to experience it all on Sunday night. And, of course, we talked to your fave celebs about giving back.

Let's talk about the red carpet. The fact that Katy Perry bonded with Richard Simmons, robots appeared and Pharrell flew by on the carpet with a BMX-riding crew couldn't distract us from ~~twerking~~ working. We set out to ask celebs a meta question of sorts: Which other celeb would you volunteer with and why?

Yeah, we got some Angelina Jolie responses (How could one NOT want to volunteer with the matron saint of volunteering?) but we received some colorful responses from rapper Machine Gun Kelly, aerobics legend (and now BFF of]]>Â Katy Perry) Richard Simmons, your favorite ladies and gents from "Girl Code" and Glee's Naya Rivera.

On this date, half a century ago, one man and 250,000 other men and women]]>Â marched on Washington so that people of all races could "have a dream" and a fair shot at making it come true. We caught up with rappers Juicy J and Machine Gun Kelly, model Joan Smalls and other celebs at the 2013 VMAs to find out what exactly Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream means to them.

Meanwhile, television personality Toccara Jones had mixed feelings on the subject. "It makes me proud and it makes me sad," she said of celebrating the 50 year anniversary of MLK Jr.'s "I Have A Dream" speech. "I do see that we've come far ... but we still have a long way to go. I'm glad that ... we're not letting the dream die, that we're continuing the dream, but I think that we need to stand up and we need to work harder."

We've come a long way, in many ways, since 1963, but there's still a lot of work to be done in order to achieve equality for all regardless of race, sex or sexual orientation. This isn't about civil rights. It's not about voting rights. And it's not about marriage rights, either. From August 28th, 1963, till August 28th, 2013, and for many August 28ths to come, it will always be about HUMAN rights!

When it comes to incredible life stories, Mary Lambert knows she has a special one. "We're going to be here for a while!" she tells me, when I ask her to give me some background on her short (she's only 24) but impressive (she won that VMA for her collaboration with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis on "Same Love") career.

She met Ben Haggerty (aka Macklemore), through Seattle's independent music scene. After hearing her sing, he asked her to collaborate on a song about marriage equality. That song would become "Same Love," the hip hop/ballad hybrid sweeping the nation. The song gained so much notoriety, Mary performed it live at the 2013 Video Music Awards alongside Jennifer Hudson.

The video for Mary's first solo single, "She Keeps Me Warm," is a compelling look at an honest lesbian love story.

We all saw Lady Gaga on the VMA red carpet in her black Prabal Gurung gown, accompanied by a black wig and simple, natural-looking makeup. We then saw her open the show by quickly changing through a bunch of her former famous looks until she reached her Applause video Botticelli-inspired costume which was, simply, two seashells and a flower-print thong.

What we didn't see (until now!) was Gaga behind-the-scenes and, at least by Gaga standards, relaxed. Gaga pal and frequent photographer, Terry Richardson, was backstage with the singer as she prepped for the red carpet and her comeback performance. Terry posted some pics he took to his website, Terry's Diary, and they depict Gaga as one would likely imagine she is backstage: getting massages wearing only a thong, surrounded by wigs, with gold paint all over her butt, etc., normal stuff.

We get a glimpse of Gaga's wigs, though one only seemed to have made the VMA performance cut. Don't worry, other wigs, based on the rate Mother Monster has been switching up her hair, your time in the sun will come soon! Don't give up.

We see Gaga lookin' rather statuesque as she gets put into her gown. It takes a village (of three people): a guy to make sure her wig is on securely, one to adjust her bow, and a woman to hold up something pink in Gaga's direction. The wig goes on before the gown does: noted.

The best image from the whole batch, IMHO, is this one of Gaga adjusting her new-ish septum ring with pliers? Um, ow? Terry's caption, "Gaga adjusting her nose ring," doesn't give us any insight as to why the natural tools attached to her hands (fingers) wouldn't work, but at least we know she's adjusting the piercing and not just stickin' some pliers up her nostrils for LOLz.

Before any of the onstage shenanigans went down, we were peeping what the celebs were wearing outside the Barclays Center--you know, on that thing called a red carpet. We saw our favorite gals sporting everything from jeans and a T-shirt to super glam statement gowns, and we loved it all. As you know, though, we MUST narrow it down to our top 10 favorites, so check out who we picked below (and be sure to comment on who you liked best!).

LADY GAGA IN PRABAL GURUNG

Lady Gaga looked dashing in her all-black Prabal Gurung gown, and we know it's hitting us in a special place because we never, ever say the word "dashing." Honestly, we love seeing a sleek, goth-y Gaga wrapped up like a perfect little present, and for that, she makes it to the top of our list.

I mean, when does Selena Gomez ever not look amazing? Her perfectly-tailored dress (this time by Atelier Versace) and always well-tamed brunette 'do together are a constant recipe for red carpet greatness (and, no, we don't mind that she shows a little more skin every year she gets older #WERK).

Taylor Swift decided to ditch her typically-girly steez for a vampy, Old Hollywood look. She sported a skin-tight Herve Leger by Max Azria navy blue number with pinned-back waves. burgundy lips and a seriously smoky eye. T Swift has switched to the dark side, and we LIKE it.

ARIANA GRANDE IN KENLEY COLLINS

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Ariana Grande decided to celebrate the last days of summer in a floral Kenley Collins skater dress with white pumps and matching nails. She pulled her light brown strands back into a super luxurious ponytail and finished off the look with some light pink eyeshadow and lip gloss that we love.

RITA ORA IN ALEXANDRE VAUTHIER COUTURE

We gotta give it up for Rita Ora because, well, look at her. Her crystal and feather Alexandre Vauthier Couture gown was so extravagant that she needed someone to man her train as she navigated through the red carpet. We love how she chose a blunt platinum bob with this ornate dress to give it some edge, and kept her makeup super light and fresh with such a statement-making ensemble.

HOLLAND RODEN IN NAEEM KHAN

Our resident Teen Wolf cutie Holland Roden stunned us (in a good way!) when she arrived in a decked out embellished Naeem Khan number complete with--yep--PANTS. She looked comfy yet chic, and we give her major props for taking on such a sartorial challenge while still managing to knock it out of the park.

CIARA IN GIVENCHY COUTURE

Ciara killed it in an embellished sheer and strategically-placed feather Givenchy Couture number that actually extended onto her fingers for a glove-meets-dress-hybrid situation that we just CANNOT stop staring at. When people say someone is "glowing," this is truly what they mean.

Last night, three of our fave COVERGIRLS--Mim and Liv Nervo (aka NERVO) and Becky G hit the 2013 VMA Red Carpet, bringing major nail and makeup looks with them]]>â€”covermoment.com, and now, fortunately for us, are sharing their nail and makeup inspiration, as well as how to achieve the looks.

NERVO'S NAIL ART

Since NERVO was DJing the VMA red carpet, DJing duo knew their nails had to make a statement. The twins used some of what they saw during their exploration of Brooklyn as inspiration: their electric look and sound definitely came through on their fingertips.

Mim used COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in Black Diamond, Snow Storm, Forever Fawn, and Golden Opportunity as base color. Then, to embellish the look, she added bold accessories, including studs, diamond bows, and gold chains. She even added an MTV symbol to one of her nails]]>â€”

Liv took a simpler approach: she started with a base of COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in Black Diamond and Snow Storm and then dressed her nails up by adding zig-zags and paint splatters.

LIV AND MIM'S MAKEUP LOOKS

Liv and Mim have a unique sense of style, so they always aim to have their makeup looks reflect their individuality. The outfits they chose for the red carpet were bold: 3D designs and strategically placed fabric, so they wanted their makeup to amp up their entire look even more.

Mim wore COVERGIRL Clean Whipped Cream Foundation in Natural Beige, followed by Clean Glow Blush in Roses and Clean Glow Bronzer in Spices. To make sure her look was summery and #covermoment ready, she also wore TruBlend Minerals Bronzer in Golden Sunrise.

On her eyes, she started with COVERGIRL Ink It! Liner in Black Ink and drew from the inner corner of the eye to the outer, defining the eye lid into a full cat eye shape. She then used Flamed Out Shadow Pot in Molten Black to fill in the space between the outer line and the lash line. To complete the bold eye look, she extended her lashes with Clump Crusher Extensions in Very Black.

The final touch was a pop of sheer color on the lips: Mim used the Queen Collection Jumbo Gloss Balm in Pink Diamond.

Like her nails, Liv's beauty approach was simpler than her sisters: she really emphasized her eyes with a striking cat eye. She used Clean Whipped Cream Foundation in Buff Beige to even her skin tone, and then added TruBLEND Minerals Loose Powder in Translucent Medium. On top of that, she added Clean Glow Bronzer in Spices and finished with Clean Glow Blush in Peaches.

The main part of her look--they cat eye--was created with a nude base shadow, COVERGIRL Eye Enhancers in Mink, and then LineBlast 24 Hour Liner.

It was Becky]]>â€™COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in Snow Storm as a base, but added color and design with Outlast Stay Brilliant Glosstini colors including Bahama Mama, Lemon Drop, Sangria, and Blue Hawaiian. Inspired by what she saw around the Barclays Center, Becky's nails had a graffiti design, which was achieved by tapping a sponge on the nails while they were still wet.

Becky really wanted an ]]>â€œâ€

On her eyes, Becky wore a dark shadow and on top of it, on her lashline, she wore COVERGIRL Ink It! Liner in Black Ink. The liner was worked into her lashes with a small smudge brushed to give her a natural smoked-out look. To finish and provide just enough pop, her lashes were coated with COVERGIRL Flamed Out Mascara.

Her skin was prepped by moisturizing and applying COVERGIRL Clean Whipped Creme Foundation. A bit of COVERGIRL + Olay Concealer Balm was applied under her eyes and wherever needed. COVERGIRL Clean Glow Blush in Roses was swept along her cheeks to finish her skin and powder was applied to keep the shine away.

Giant teddy backpacks and dancers dressed as bears supported Miley's tongue-and-twerk-tastic solo performance, her first time ever on the VMA stage. And then the Robin Thicke portion started.

Miley ripped off the glittery bodice to reveal a patent nude latex bra and briefs set which she pranced around the set continuing to lash her tongue around and wield a well-manicured foam finger all up and down Thicke's Beetlejuice-reminiscient suit. The break-away quick-change was, of course, meant to be a reference to Thicke's mammary-laden "Blurred Lines" music video (directed by Diane Martel who's also responsible for Miley's "We Can't Stop" vid), but more than that, it hearkened back to another pop star's coming-of-age performance moment on the VMA stage: a little Louisiana girl named Britney Spears.

Need a refresher? Once upon a time, Brit hit the 2000 VMA stage for her own medley performance. Spears opened her set with her cover of "Satisfaction" wearing a rhinestone pinstriped menswear suit and a fedora. Descending a spiral staircase, Britney finished the song on the main stage and transitioned into her colossal hit, "Oops...I Did It Again." And by "transitioned," I mean she ripped off her clothes to reveal a nude bra top and flared pants with visible thong underwear detailing (all also covered in rhinestones). Much like Miley's performance last night, the all-nude-everything quick-change elicited major shock and controversy because at the time Britney was just 18 years old and the sight gag of going from drowning in suiting to a nearly-naked optical illusion dropped more than a few jaws. (Unfortunately, we didn't have Twitter yet.)

Miley is 20 and came straight out the gate not wearing any pants, making the only epidermal surprise (what a terrible phrase...too bad I'm not hitting backspace) her bare abdomen. And yet, it seems Miley's performance last night is just as shocking as Britney's, if not more so. (Fun fact: Miley's current manager, Larry Rudolph, also manages Britney and has since 1999, as in since before that 2000 VMA performance.) Is it the twerking? The lack of dazzling hair-ography? Robin Thicke's suit? The kinda infantilizing baby buns and teddy bears? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

There once was a time when missing a slice of fabric from your dress meant that you]]>â€™Lil Kim in WAY less before, so despite a clear view of her string-bikini, our jaws actually remained above desk-level when Kimmy Blanco rocked the carpet in a laser-cut leather jumpsuit (custom-made by her stylist, Anthony Latimore). Naya Rivera gave goth a good name in a wickedly sultry Sen Couture gown with a series of small cut-outs at the waist and shoulders. Ashanti, on the other hand, flashed a little leg, a little chest and a lot of her toned tummy in a figure-hugging sea foam Grecian wrap dress.

One 2013 VMA performer, three looks. That's right, show closer Katy Perry didn't end her night in her boxing gear, but changed yet again, into a very familiar look. As we know, the "Roar" singer kicked off the night, on the red carpet, in a long-sleeved, knee-length, Emanuel Ungaro animal print FW13 dress and a sparkly set o'grillz. She then showed us how to "Roar" under the Brooklyn Bridge, where she performed her new single for the first time, decked out in boxing gear, including an animal-print sports bra.

So, what look did Katy end her night in, you ask? Oh, just her Empire Records-esque, VMA video promo look. Yep, for the VMA after-party she ditched the athletic look for slightly glammed-up '90s grunge. Just like her promo vid, she's in a plaid skirt and knee socks, though she's swapped her black, halter crop-top for a leather bustier and leather jacket that she's draped over her shoulder. Leather on leather; how very biker chic of you, Katy. She also has on a studded choker, which is v. similar to one we saw in a "Roar" teaser. If leather chokers are becoming a ~thing~ again, I'll have to go get mine out of their special box in storage, so if Katy or anyone else could let me know if they'll be here to stay, I'd appreciate it.

'Teen Wolf' Star Crystal Reed Assures VMA Red Carpet Hosts She Is Not A Crook [Video]

If the 007 series has taught us one thing (outside of how to successfully fall off a 20-story building unscathed), it's that looks can be deceiving, and even the world's most beautiful women can be hardened criminals. To the best of our knowledge, Crystal Reed of "Teen Wolf" isn't one, but that didn't stop 2013 MTV Video Music Awards Red Carpet Report hosts Grimes and Rachel Antonoff from asking if she planned to make off with her outfit's lavish jewelry. Surely it's against the Argent's code!

After debating whether C. Reed's purse was embellished with pony hair (they can do that?!), Rachel and Grimes got down to the question on everyone's minds with regard to Crystal's borrowed Neil Lane ring. "Are you thinking of making a run for the border with it?" Rachel asked. "No, but I had it very tightly locked in my safe," Crystal answered. There you have it, folks! Crystal Reed: dressed to kill, but not, in fact, a high-end crook.

This millennial sentiment never rang more true than at tonight's Video Music Awards, where dozens of MTV casties hobnobbed with each other, as well as the music industry's biggest names...while simultaneously tweeting their interactions for public consumption. Multi-tasking is clearly a prerequisite for stardom in the social media age.

Snooki was one of a handful of MTV redheads to hit the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.

We were seeing red during tonight's VMAs...but in a really good way! Between Katy Perry's grill and Miley's furry leotard, the stars went above and beyond to entertain their fans (and each other) with wild costumes and some serious, crazy-eyed stares. And while our MTV talent went for more reserved looks, some of the girls made a big statement with their fiery crimson locks. New trend: matching your drapes to the (literal) carpet!

From the return of Snooki's rusty hues to Holland Roden's reliably ginger locks, the look of blood and fire engines exploded outside of the Barclays Center, and we have to say: We didn't hate it. Blondes might have more fun, and maybe brunettes have the intellectual vibe down, but redheads snatched up our attention tonight -- a tough feat, considering how distracted we were by Robin Thicke's prison suit.
