for ellie.. its just a song. its not like its that is being analyzed by the oscars.
It really ticks me off that they call her music country. It's pure tweeny-bop pop. The literary allusions she makes in her songs aren't even correct. She says she's the Scarlet Letter, meaning she would be a point of shame, but she's not because her dad told him to say away. Meaning her supposed "Romeo" is the Scarlet Letter. As far as Romeo and Juliet goes, she screws that up to. Her dad even gives permission at the end of the song. Romeo and Juliet is defined by the forever unyielding separation when your sole thought is to conquer the opposite.
