She is riding the batpod because Bane breaks Batmans back in an epic fight and she steps in to help while the bat recovers. This is why there are so many extra characters in "Rises". They have to take up the slack for when Batman is stuck in a hospital bed with his broken back. Selina Kyle will help out Batman and Talia al Ghul(Marion Cotillard) will help Bane.
