When the new music trucks pull up to the MTV loading docks, we give those shiny boxes inside the royal treatment. The works. We handle them with care, unwrap them with love, unfurl their sacred lyrics and, like the beautiful newborn babies that they are, just squeezed out into the world, we spank them. That's right, reader. We spank 'em good. Because every MTV Spankin' New Week is serious business. It's childbirth -- we're the doctors -- and babies, it's time to meet the world. And this time around, we're focused on your most sensitive of areas: lyrics.

That's right, reader. We spank 'em good. Because every MTV Spankin' New Week is serious business. It's childbirth -- we're the doctors -- and babies, it's time to meet the world.
In November 2007, we too focused on the most sensitive of areas by hosting the first Spankin' New Lyrics Week.
We kicked off the action with newly minted super-tag-team, Bow Wow and Omarion, who performed their debut collab, 'Girlfriend.' Then we brought Keyshia Cole, Mario, Lupe Fiasco and Ashley Tisdale into the 'TRL' studio and followed that with Colorado rockers OneRepublic, who performed "Apologize." The fourth and final day of Spankin' New Lyrics Week was major as we featured one of our generation's foremost songwriters, the one and only Alicia Keys performing two new songs in our Times Square studio. Plus we sprinkled in visits by Simple Plan, Paramore, /music/artist/the_dream_rap/artist.jhtml, Good Charlotte and actor Justin Long, premiered a new video by Snoop Dogg, and took 1st Looks at new clips from Chris Brown, J. Holiday and The White Stripes.

Monday 11.26:
Bow Wow and Omarion were here together! Oh sure, they're stars on their own, but together they reach exponentially bigger superstardom proportions. They performed their debut collab, "Girlfriend." Plus, Simple Plan is droped by via the ol' Web cam and actor Justin Long hung out, too!
Tuesday 11.27:
Keyshia Cole? We got her here to perform. Mario? Got him. Lupe Fiasco? He was here. Ashley Tisdale? Yup! We had to knock down a wall to fit all of that talent in our Times Square studios. Plus,took a 1st Look at the latest video from The White Stripes!
Wednesday 11.28:
Do you know OneRepublic? You're going to, and soon! They were here to perform their single "Apologize," and talk about their lyrics and awesome Timbaland connection. There was more. We took the wraps off of Snoop Dogg's new video, "Sensual Seduction." We've also asked Paramore to drop in to discuss lyrics, music and what's next for them! The-Dream was there, too, to give us a 1st Look his newest video, and we also took a 1st Look at the latest video from J Holiday! Yeah, it was that kind of day.
Thursday 11.29:
Two words: Alicia Keys! She is an R&B hitmaker and achingly fantastic songwriter, so having her here for Spankin' New Lyrics week is, well, an honor, to say the least. And she's going to perform, not one, but two songs! And, if that's not enough, Good Charlotte will be in the studio to talk about their latest album!
