PREVIOUS YEARS

  1. After leading the world through what was unquestionably one of the funniest Movie Awards shows in MTV history, Sarah Silverman had better watch her back. The razor-toothed hostess managed to ruthlessly tear up half of the audience, including Paris Hilton, Tobey Maguire and Lindsay Lohan.

  2. We're in the midst of proceedings to have the name of this year legally changed to 200Alba. Not only did our hottie hostess knockum dead in the parodies and on the stage, she also won the Sexiest Performance award for her mindblowing showing in Sin City.

  3. Apparently 2005 was the year that America went back to high school (as if we ever left) because Mean Girls and Napoleon Dynamite won just about everything.

  4. Who says you have to be a comedian to host the MTV Movie Awards show? At 17, Lindsay Lohan pulled off the job as well as any veteran, and bucked the trend by doing it solo.

  5. After taking just two Golden Popcorns a year earlier, Frodo and co. had their revenge in '03, picking up four trophies for Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and finishing ahead of blockbusters Spider-Man and 8 Mile.

  6. Though it was the year that Lord of the Rings swept the Oscars, on our show it had to share with Moulin Rouge, which tied with the fantasy at two awards each.

  7. Hosted by oddball dream couple Jimmy Fallon and Kirsten Dunst and soundtracked by Weezer, Dave Matthews Band and the Lady Marmalade crew, 2001 lived up to its epic name.

  8. As host, we enlisted the help of HBO sexpert Sarah Jessica Parker who graced the stage with 12 different outfits over the course of one fabulous night.

  9. At the peak of Friends's popularity, Lisa Kudrow hosted what quickly became a veritable Something About Mary-fest.

  10. As usual, Samuel L. Jackson had plenty to shout about as 1998's master of ceremonies.

  11. About 30 seconds into Austin Powers, we knew that we had to have Mike Myers for our host. And did he disappoint? Oh no.

  12. Reality Biters Ben Stiller and Janeane Garofalo hosted 1996's big dance, a landmark night for three-time winner Se7en and its deadly hot star, a relative newcomer named Brad Pitt.

  13. In 1995 a floppy-haired underbite called Quentin Tarantino turned the movie world on its ear with Pulp Fiction and our show followed suit.

  14. You'll have to fact check us on this, but we're pretty sure this was the only Will Smith-hosted awards show in history where both Billy Baldwin AND Michael Jackson took home big awards.

  15. The year of Aladdin and Sharon Stone's lack of underwear, Eddie Murphy (nominated that year for Boomerang) took the reins of our second ever MTV Movie Awards and, as expected, brought the house down.

  16. Can you believe that there was ever a time when Billy Crystal could take home the Golden Popcorn for Best Comedic Performance? Well obviously you never saw City Slickers.
