1. Each year the Movie Awards bestows a particularly deserving actor with its highest honor, the MTV Generation Award. The distinction acknowledges an actor who has engaged the MTV audience throughout their career. This year, MTV is proud to present the Generation Award to Academy Award nominated actor and producer Mark Wahlberg for his brilliant body of work in the film and television industry.

Over the past two decades, Wahlberg has become a Hollywood heavyweight, appearing in films ranging from award-winning action-packed dramas and thrillers to blockbuster comedies with credits including 'Lone Survivor,' 'Boogie Nights,' 'The Perfect Storm,' 'Italian Job,' 'The Departed,' 'The Fighter,' 'Pain & Gain' and 'Ted.' This year, Wahlberg battles against the Autobots and Decepticons in the upcoming 'Transformers: Age of Extinction.'

As if acting in countless blockbuster movies wasn't enough, Wahlberg's transition from on camera to behind-the-scenes as a producer has been just as successful. His production credits include 'The Fighter,' for which he was nominated for his second Academy Award for Best Picture, 'Contraband,' 'Prisoners' and 'Lone Survivor'. He also acted as executive producer for one of the most critically-acclaimed, successful and fan-favorite shows in HBO history, 'Entourage,' and his new show with his family, 'Wahlburgers.'

A jack-of-all-trades in every sense of the word, Wahlberg has proved himself as a major force to be reckoned with over the last few decades and his career shows no sign of slowing down. Watch him receive the MTV Generation Award live during the 2014 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, April 13 at 9/8c.
