Hope to one day travel the globe, have a line of sneakers named after you and have tons of people fawning all over you? Do you think all this is too good to be true? Well, it's not. This is The Life of Ryan.
Ryan Sheckler's tale is a coming-of-age story set against an almost superhero-like existence. At just 17, Ryan, a skateboarding phenom who got on his first board at just 18 months old, already has everything a boy could ever dream of having. He has traveled the world and won numerous competitions; he owns a Range Rover; and, yes, he even has his very own skate park in his backyard! But deep down Ryan's really just like any other teenage boy -- he's just looking for the right girl and wants to spend time with his buddies.
Ryan is the youngest person to ever turn professional in the world of skateboarding. Give him a skateboard and he turns into a superhero on four wheels. But beyond the board, he's just a regular kid trying to figure it all out.
Yes, Ryan travels the world showing off his skills, but his omnipresent mother, who is also his manager, is always right by his side. When home in San Clemente, Calif., he's a normal kid who spends his days worrying about girls, curfews and acceptance, both among his peers and his parents.
On top of all that, Ryan is still struggling with his parents' recent divorce and strives to be a father figure to his two younger brothers, Shane and Kane. The divorce has hit the three Sheckler brothers pretty hard, and now that Ryan's father has a new girlfriend, they are struggling with accepting her into his family. How will they react when their mom starts dating?
With the constant companionship and advice of three reliable friends -- Tony, Casey and Taylor -- Ryan deals with everyday problems that other teenagers can easily relate to ? tops on his list is the quest for the perfect girl. But with his busy schedule and his "momager" constantly reminding him that his career comes first, will Ryan be able to juggle everything? It's all in a day in The Life of Ryan.
