After moving out of the band's house, Kaya scores a new posh pad. Kaya can't believe she can afford such a rockin' place. All this time she thought her finances were in ruins, but it turns out that her father, Don, was lying to protect her.
Now that Don is no longer their manager, Crossing Coldwater must look for a replacement. But as each potential hopeful feeds them the same lines, Kaya becomes frustrated. When the final manager sits down, Kaya demands to know why he's different from the rest. He tells them he manages four high-profile bands and there's no limit to how far Crossing Coldwater can go. They're sold.
Back at Kaya's new house, Natalee is sorting through fan mail when she opens a letter that freaks her out. It contains a supposed sex tape featuring Kaya and a note demanding 500,000 dollars. Kaya assumes it's a joke, but then she has a flashback to her and Natalee waiting in line at a concert. After using a fake ID to get into the show, Kaya catches the eye of the lead singer of the band. That night, even though she's dating Gunnar, Kaya and the singer get down and dirty at his apartment.
After watching the sex tape, Kaya stumbles around her pool with a drink in hand. It's obvious she's stressed out, especially when she starts carrying on a conversation with her dead sister, who asks her if the price of fame is worth it.
The next day Kaya shows the tape to her father and asks for his help. He's visibly upset but suggests that her new manager, Tripp, should handle the problem. When they meet with Tripp, he says they probably won't be able to stop the tape from being released and suggests that they capitalize on the tape, after all "sex sells." Kaya and her father disagree, and Don presents a new idea. He says he knows someone named "Mr. Smith" that can make the tape go away for a price.
Later, Gunnar, Taylor and Manny sit down with Tripp to go over their Metro Sound contracts. To their disappointment, they discover that Kaya earns more than double what they do. Tripp tells them he isn't surprised since their ex-manager is Kaya's dad.
Gunnar, Taylor and Manny confront Kaya, saying they want to renegotiate their contracts. When Manny accuses her father of playing them, Kaya starts crying. Her emotional breakdown causes her bandmates to put their financial problems on hold and ask her what the problem is. As Kaya tells them about the sex tape, Gunnar hangs his head in disbelief.
That night, Kaya and her father meet Mr. Smith in a discreet location. When they hand over the check, Mr. Smith claims the sex tape will disappear, but says they won't want to know how.
At the studio the next day, Taylor announces that Tripp has sent over the management contract, which they must all sign to make him their permanent manager. Kaya says she isn't signing it because she's mad that he suggested they make money off of her sex tape. Just then, Mr. Smith enters the studio, claiming that the sex tape is taken care of. Before leaving, he hands Don an envelope, saying he hopes it will help him out.
While boarding a boat with his family, Rossi is confronted by Don, who is holding the envelope. Rossi opens the envelope, which contains pictures of a bruised woman that Rossi once abused. When Rossi asks Don what he wants, Don demands to be Crossing Coldwater's manager again and that the band gets to renegotiate their contracts.
While partying at Kaya's new place, Gunnar approaches Kaya and asks if the lead singer she had sex with was the reason she broke up with him. She claims she was 18 and drunk and it didn't mean anything. He points out that that's what she said about sleeping with Taylor and storms off, saying he doesn't want anything to do with her anymore. As Gunnar steps out, Taylor steps in and kisses Kaya on the cheek, telling her that he'll take her, warts and all.
