Take the Fantasy Challenge
You've heard of Fantasy Football and Fantasy Baseball, right? Well, take the sports element from those games and add a whole lot of Real World/Road Rules drama and you get the ultimate play-along companion game to MTV's Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Gauntlet...right here on MTV.com.
You get to choose a team made up of your favorite Real Worlders and Road Rulers, then you score points based on things they do in the episodes--things like crying, fighting, hooking up and more. You compete against other MTV.com members each week...stay on top of the game and you could win a weekly prize and even your very own handsome reward, a Saturn ION TM Quad Coupe.
Registering and Choosing Your Team
To play, you must be a member of MTV.com. Sign up and choose a name for your team--the Real World Ravers, the Rockin' Roadies, whatever floats your boat! After you've chosen your team name, select six cast members from The Gauntlet (can be a combination of any cast members...male, female, Real World or Road Rules, it doesn't matter this season, as long as you choose six). There are 28 cast members to choose from. Think about who you think will do well this season--you want the players who are going to rack up the most points for you. They will be voting off one cast member after every competition until there are 14 cast members remaining. So, it's possible that someone you have on your team might be voted off...but don't worry, you can make a Trade or put them on the Bench.
You always have to have two cast members on the bench at all times. You will not be awarded any points for the players while they are on the bench. You can change your players' status from "bench" to "active" (or vice versa) as many times as you'd like-just go to the "Start/Bench" page.
Making Trades/Frozen Roster
Our gift to you this season is a free trading period from September 15 - October 3. You will be allowed to make free trades during this time--so trade your cast members as many times as you'd like! After the first frozen roster period is over, you will be allowed to make six trades for the rest of the entire season, so trade wisely! This will really come in handy if someone on your team gets voted off...you'll definitely want to get rid of them! The show airs at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on Mondays (which is essentially, "game day"). To ensure accurate scoring for East Coast and West Coast players, we will freeze the roster for a period of time. You will not be able to make any trades while the roster is frozen (from 9:45 p.m. ET Mondays until 6:00 p.m. ET Tuesdays) so make sure you make your trades before 9:45 p.m. ET on Mondays. The team scores and players stats will be updated on the site around 6:00 p.m. on Tuesdays. You can check too see how well you scored in the previous round at that time. The first frozen roster period and scoring round will take place at 9:45 on October 6.
This season, the first and second episode (airing September 29) will not count for points for the Fantasy Challenge game. Use this time to grasp the concept of your game, adjust your lineup and figure out your strategy. The first episode that counts for scoring will be on October 6 (episode 3).
There are lots of ways to earn points in the Fantasy Challenge. In Fantasy Baseball games, you get points when people on your team do well (like hitting a homerun or pitching a strike). In our game, you get points for how well your players do in The Gauntlet competitions and also for things like fighting, kissing, and hooking up. (Think of hooking up as our "home run.") Read on for more details on things you can get points for.
Gauntlet Competitions: This season, you will not earn Fantasy Points for the regular "Challenges" that the cast members compete in. Instead, you will earn Fantasy Points if you have a cast member on your team who goes to The Gauntlet competition and wins.
Activity Points: You will also receive points each time one of your team members cry, fight, hook up, trash-talk, get bleeped, etc. For a full list of all the items you can receive points for and how many points each item is worth, see the Fantasy Point Categories page.
Buzz Word: This is the "Bonus Points" category. Each week, there will be a secret word worth 10 points. The word won't be revealed until the episode airs. The Buzz Word will be chosen by MTV.com. If someone on your team says the word, you will receive points. The word may be said several times an episode.
This category is meant to prevent cheating--so people with previous knowledge of the show will not an unfair advantage. No one involved with the production of the show will know the Buzz Word until it is revealed on MTV.com the night the show airs.
