What was your inspiration for your entry?
I wanted to deal with Hitler, because, in my opinion, the Holocaust is the worst example of discrimination and oppression in history. The Ku Klux Klan is the most oppressive organization in America. Also, Hitler and the KKK are recognizable representations of evil in society. Last summer, I attended Camp Anytown, which dealt with combating oppression. It was a powerful experience, and at some points during the week I felt as if the oppression I was responsible for made me as bad as the aforementioned people. I drew on the emotions I felt at Camp Anytown to create this PSA.
What is the message you want people to take from your PSA?
I want people to associate themselves, at some level, with the KKK and Hitler after seeing this PSA. I want people to associate the words they say with the horrible actions of Hitler, the Nazis and the KKK. I want them to think twice before they insult someone for being different than the majority, or themselves.
