What was your inspiration for your entry?
I'd have to say the opportunity to speak my mind in a positive, proactive way acted as the initial catalyst for the project. At that point I really began to think about what I wanted to say and how I could communicate it. I chose a mathematical equation because it has an answer and contains many different parts that are added together. The equation itself is America and the answer to this problem is EQUALS. Racism too has an answer: equality. It's really that easy. So my inspiration was the opportunity to speak up about something I really believed in.
What is the message you want people to take from your PSA?
I just want people to understand that we are all different but not that different. We come from different environments that cause us to look different and act differently, but in the end I think we all want the same thing: to pursue our dreams in a world that nurtures each and every one of its inhabitants. Let's keep it simple and treat everyone with respect. As a matter of fact, imagine America as a large apartment and that all the people are your roommates. Sure they're gonna piss you off sometimes, but that's a roommate thing, not a race thing.
