MissionTo stop discrimination in both the medical and political arenas.
Personal Quote"Muhammad Ali… challenges people to search for their purposes in life. I have chosen to accept this challenge and have made it my purpose to reduce discrimination in society."

What do you plan to study in school and how will it help you achieve your mission?
In the next few years of my life, I plan to complete an undergraduate degree in Biology. Afterwards, I hope to attend medical school, and later, embark on my career as a doctor. As a doctor, my mission will be to remedy the unequal distribution of resources in the healthcare industry. More specifically, I hope to combat issues dealing with low-income family access to health care, quality of healthcare service, and outreach efforts affecting people in urban areas. Education serves as the foundation for my dream; without it, I won't be able to confront these social problems.

Where will you be in five years?
I will have graduated with a degree in Biology and will be done with my first year of medical school. During this time, I hope to be preparing for my career as a doctor by combining my studies with practical intern or volunteer experiences at hospitals and clinics within economically-disadvantaged communities.

Why should people care about social justice?
People should care about social justice because injustice affects everyone, regardless of race, religion, gender or sexual preference. The most productive and impactful experiences in our history have been a result of diverse people coming together and uniting against common causes. By committing to change the way we confront issues of health, education and equality, we all become more socially and culturally prosperous.

How are you going to change the world?
As a Chicano, I have dealt with various issues of injustice in my own life. I hope to bring global awareness to issues of social injustice by first detecting and confronting them in my own community. By inspiring, motivating and communicating my passion to others, I am confident they will do the same. I will also bring social consciousness to the field of medicine by dedicating my time to offering strategic solutions to important issues. Many of our great leaders have proved that although it takes a large amount of sacrifice and dedication to bring change, it is definitely possible.
