MissionTo create alternatives in cinema that make a difference in the lives of people with disabilities, people of color and the queer community.
Personal Quote"In spite of constant hatred, racism and anger that I face day-to-day, I continue, because my vulnerability is an ability."

What do you plan to study in school and how will it help you achieve your mission?
I will graduate this June from the University of California-Santa Barbara with a double major in Film Studies and Chicano Studies. In my pursuit to become a television director and a producer for independent films, I plan on attending graduate school to earn an MFA in Film Production.

Where will you be in five years?
Five years from now, I plan on still being in graduate school, this time earning my doctorate in Film Studies. This will allow me the possibility to teach film and TV production to students in the future. Grooming students to become filmmakers is powerful since they can have ownership of cinematic production, allowing them to construct their own reality, historiography and representation with a sense of freedom.

Why should people care about social justice?
There are many struggles that we face today, such as accessing our education, earning a living wage, and fighting hate crimes. However, each of us has a stake in the futures of our youth, community, and our own lives. With our minds, hearts, and souls, each of us marks the path towards social justice and our civil rights. We should not lose hope. We should remember that revolution is not a one-time event. The path towards justice is an ongoing struggle and must never end.

How are you going to change the world?
Artists have the ability to validate, change, and inspire lives through filmmaking. Women, people of color, persons with disabilities, and the LGBTQ community are often misrepresented or underrepresented. I want underprivileged communities to have the ability to reclaim their representation in Hollywood. It is my goal to bring television and cinema production back to the people by empowering them to be scriptwriters, designers, actors, producers, and directors, so that we can have ownership of our representation. With this vision, I will build my own company for film and TV on the foundation of democratizing the production process for underprivileged artists.
