Mayan legend indicates that one way to invoke an angry spirit is through a sacrificial ceremony. The sacrificial victim or animal (considered an honored position) was made as an offering to the gods in an attempt to appease them. It is thought that sacrifices were made in this area. Locals have reported seeing strange psychic manifestations in this area, including the ghost of what appears to be an ancient Mayan warrior. Most believe that this is the spirit of Chac Tul.
