Mase has heard all the standard lines when it comes to award shows, that "it's great to be nominated" and that "there are no losers," but after watching his good friend, Sean "Puffy" Combs, take home a pair of awards last year, the rapper says he
isn't buying it. For this year's Video Music Awards, Mase is nominated in the Best New Artist for his "Feel So Good" single, and the rapper confided to MTV News that he desperately wants to win. "I'm dying to win," Mase said, "'cause I wrote everything [that has won an award] for the last three years -- and I never got an award. So it's about time I get one award [400k QuickTime]. I keep doing a lot of work, and you know Puffy gets the credit for it." "One day I'll have an award," he continued, "but as long as [Puffy] keeps winning, he's winning for the team. I just feel that it's about time I should win something
... but I want one award. Just let me win one." You can find out if Mase gets his wish on September 10, when the 1998 MTV Video Music Awards airs live from Los Angeles, beginning at 8 p.m.
