Looks like it's going to be another banner year for Wiz Khalifa and his Taylor Gang. The "Work Hard, Play Hard" MC started 2014 off with a bang, nabbing a 2014 Grammy Awards nomination for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for the Weeknd-assisted "Remember You" and will be following that up with a new solo LP, Blacc Hollywood, and a yet-to-be-titled TG compilation album.
"We doing big," Wiz told MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway on the Grammy red carpet Sunday night. "Juicy's performing tonight with Katy Perry, that's gon' be crazy. Ty gonna have a really big year. I'm dropping an album this year, and we dropping the Taylor Gang compilation this year as well, should be sick."
Wiz didn't get into the particulars of his upcoming project, but did reveal that the first single would be dropping in a fortnight.
"New single, two weeks," he told Sway, before tentatively agreeing to premiere the new track on MTV RapFix.
"I always make plays off of where I'm at in my life with my album titles," Wiz told DJ Skee on Skee Live last year. "So, the Hollywood part of course is like the success, the glitz, the glamour, the fun stuff and the Blacc is like where we come from. Not Pittsburgh like the hood or nothing like that, but Pittsburgh like party, drinking at a very young age or tearing stuff up, staying too late. It's a lot of fun and attitude involved."
Wiz said he'd have "some fun tonight" at the event even if he didn't win the golden gramophone. Good thing, too, because he lost out to Jay Z's "Holy Grail." Still, the Grammys are and continue to be a great place to be for the Pittsburgh spitter, who managed to line up his upcoming big-time collaboration with Adele at last year's show with the help of his smashingly glamorous bride, Amber Rose.
"We seen each other at the Grammys," he said of the multi-platinum singer. "She ran up on Amber, she was like 'Amber, Amber' and told her how beautiful she looked. And her people contacted some of my people and they found out that we were working on an album and sent some ideas through, so we were able to knock some things out."
In addition to the "Skyfall" chanteuse, Wiz has recorded songs with Miley Cyrus and Juicy J for his fifth studio album.
