The year has just started, but already Schoolboy Q is looking to take rap's pole position. With a little more than a month until the TDE spitter drops his major-label debut, Oxymoron, on February 25, Q makes a bold declaration with his new "Man of the Year" music video.

The clip, which was directed by Dave Free & aplusfilmz, opens with Schoolboy and a bikini-clad model riding a four-wheel ATV on a beach. The Black Hippy MC is all smiles as he delivers his chest-pounding proclamation: "It's a party over here/ Shake it for the man of the year."

The rising California rap star partakes in a number of lazy day activities. He lies in a hammock, takes a smoke break, stands up atop a waterfall and coaches his flock of females to run across the sand in slow-motion, "Baywatch" style.

If the rapper is facing mounting pressure in the weeks leading up to his LP release, we couldn't tell. It's true that Schoolboy has had to face a few questions considering his release comes after Kendrick Lamar's groundbreaking good kid, m.A.A.d city album, but Q's music and visuals have had a distinctly different feel from his TDE labelmate. It's becoming increasingly clear that the Los Angeles lyricist will not be touching K-Dot's formula.

Q wasn't necessarily the good kid that Kendrick was, but despite his past gang affiliations it's clear from "Man of the Year" that Schoolboy just wants to have fun. (He also proved that by throwing a trippy party in Oxymoron's first video for "Collard Greens.") By the close of the clip, Q's sunlit frolics on the beach turn to a moonlit beach party in front of a bonfire. There are fireworks, women and plenty of smiles all around, proving that gangstas can have fun too.
