Later this year, the Maroon 5 lead singer is slated to hit the big screen in "Can a Song Save Your Life?" alongside an A-list cast that includes Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo and Hailee Steinfeld. It also stars fellow musicians Mos Def and Cee Lo Green, who, like Levine, is also a judge on "The Voice."
If you're wondering if Levine has what it takes to act alongside those Hollywood heavyweights, he's getting a shining endorsement from the flick's executive producer, Judd Apatow.
"Adam Levine is fantastic in it," Apatow told MTV News at the season-three premiere of "Girls" Monday night in NYC. "The director John Carney is one of my favorite directors. He did 'Once' and he made an incredible movie. It's beautiful; it's about music and life ... And I don't want to give it away, but it's a really special movie that people are going to be excited about that comes out in the fall."
The film revolves around a musician couple (Levine and Knightly). After Levine's character breaks up with Knightly, she is left to pursue her music-industry dreams without him. She is later discovered by a record producer (Ruffalo).
So, was Levine strutting his moves like Jagger and already gunning for his Sexiest Man Alive status while they were filming? "I can't discuss anyone else's sexiness but my own. I'm not allowed to comment [about his]," Apatow joked. "I think I'm still the sexiest Jewish person around. But, he's on the list."
The film marks the Maroon 5 frontman's big-screen debut. He previously appeared in several episodes of season two of "American Horror Story," during the "Asylum" chapter. If fans can't wait for the flick to hit theaters, the new season of "The Voice" kicks off on February 24. This season will include Levine as well as Usher, Shakira and Blake Shelton.
