Now that we've seen the first full trailer for "Divergent," it's safe to say we can converge on one thing: This movie looks awesome. We've caught glimpses of the knife fights and train jumping. The "Divergent" trailer also shows us that the future Chicago also holds such delights as a shirtless Theo James and Shailene Woodley and taking shots — of fear serum, of course. Because all of us at MTV News want you to be happy, we're pleased to present the very best moments from the brand-new "Divergent" trailer, in GIF form.
This Isn't The Chicago We Know
In a live streamed fan chat immediately following the trailer's debut, director Neil Burger said that he wanted to keep away from excessive CGI while creating his post-apocalyptic Chicago, and instead shot his actors on the real city's streets.
"It's like street photography, but 100 years in the future," he said.
A City Divided
The city's factions each dress in their own color, but Burger didn't want the costumes to feel like uniforms, so he gave characters individual statement pieces while sticking to the overall palette.
'This Isn't Real.'
What, like you can't break glass with a single tap of your dainty finger?
"That was really important," he said. "To have it be real, to have people be individuals even as they are part of a larger group."
This Is A Simulation
Fans of the book know that this moment is a BFD. Non-fans know...well...that the Dauntless look great in black.
Taking A Tumble
Now we know why the Dauntless wear black: those grass stains are a killer.
Mirror, Mirror On The Wall
Beatrice (soon to be Tris) takes a forbidden glimpse at her reflection before Choosing Day.
Shots, Shots, Shots!
No, it's not a big Friday night out — it's the beginning of the test that will decide Tris' future. Have a little sensitivity.
Round And Round
Burger said that filming the Ferris wheel scene was one of the most technically difficult.
"It's about 150 feet tall," Burger said, adding that Woodley and James were "up about 75 feet, from about 9 at night until 5 in the morning" in 35 degree weather. Oh, and they had to act, too.
Getting To The (Knife) Point
Some boys pull pigtails, others throw knives.
A Long Way Down
Who ever said first is worst? This jump marks Tris' entre into the Dauntless world, into which she is literally the first to take the leap.
No, Shailene Woodley didn't come into the production with fierce fighting skills of her own. Burger said of the cast's preparation, "anybody that was going to be Dauntless went to boot camp and learned to be Dauntless. They worked with guns, they worked with knives, throwing knives, climbing all over stuff, fighting."
Looks like the hard work paid off.
Zip It Up
It's a bird! It's a plane! It's ... Shailene Woodley!
We've Got Your Back
Because what's a young adult adaptation without a little heavy petting?
High On Makeouts
Yeah, about that heavy petting ... add in a sunset, and you're golden.
"Divergent," in theaters March 21, stars Shailene Woodley and Theo James.
