Is it just us, or is Angelina Jolie looking pretty horny these days?
The actress, humanitarian and mom-of-many appears on the newly released first poster for "Maleficent," Disney's live-action reimagining of the 1959 animated classic, "Sleeping Beauty." Jolie plays the movie's title villain, menace to Elle Fanning's teenaged Princess Aurora (yes, the long-slumbering beauty who finds herself in the middle of a very thorny situation). To anyone who thinks 55 years between installments is a long time, just don't call it a comeback.
The new movie is an origin story of sorts for the villain, "a beautiful, pure-hearted young woman" livin' la vida Disney princess (the film's official synopsis mentions an "idyllic" forest setting, so can you blame us for bringing our own animated birds to braid Lady Jolie's hair?), who suffers an act of betrayal that "begins to turn her pure heart to stone." Ruh-roh.
There's no word yet on when Maleficent begins to pursue her passion of be-horned millinery, but, hey, gotta save something for opening day, right?
Summer is a long way off, but our first look at the movie isn't: The trailer for the flick is set to drop Wednesday morning. So ready your capes and evil spells, because we get the feeling things are about to get pretty magical up in here.
"Maleficent," in theaters May 30, stars Jolie and Fanning, as well as Sharlto Copley, Sam Riley and Imelda Staunton. Robert Stromberg directs.
