[Editor's note: After several days of reports, it was revealed on Monday that Raz B, born De'Mario Thornton, was never in a coma following a nightclub brawl in China last week. The singer's manager, Elayne Rivers, told CNN that his injuries were not serious, and Thornton's brother said that he was "misled by unknown reasons."]
It was a scary weekend for Raz-B. The the former B2K singer was reportedly on life support and in a coma after breaking up a fight during a club performance in China. Now, the 28-year-old appears to be in stable condition.
Sources close to the singer say that Raz (born De'Mario Thornton) is now breathing on his own, awake and responsive according to TMZ. During a show in China on Thursday, the crooner was hit in the face with a glass bottle after he rushed into the crowd to break up a fight.
Shortly after the initial incident, Raz underwent minor surgery to stitch up a gash on his lip, and issued a statement to TMZ after the procedure was done: "F--k this sh-- hurts," he said."I have a f---ing hole in my lip. Thank God I made it to the hospital."
But the situation worsened and when Raz-B didn't wake up the next morning a friend rushed him to the hospital, where he was placed on a ventilator to help him breathe. It was also reported that he was in and out of consciousness. "He is in a coma and needs as many prayers as possible," the singer's rep told TMZ on Friday.
Though he is doing better, doctors want to keep the singer a few more days to be monitored.
This isn't the first time Raz has been injured while in China, where he has been touring. In 2012, the singer suffered severely damaged nerves after falling through a glass door at a Shanghai hotel.
Raz-B rose to fame as a member of the boy band B2K along with Omarion, Lil' Fizz and J-Boog. The group released their self-titled debut and their sophomore album both in 2002. Together they crafted hit singles like "Bump, Bump, Bump," "Girlfriend" and "Why I Love You," but they split in 2003.
In 2010, Raz released his first solo mixtape, Boy 2 King, and has been touring China while working on a solo album.
