Leave the breadcrumbs on the kitchen floor—Hansel and Gretel don't need them anymore.
A spin-off of the much-loved Brothers Grimm fairy tale, "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters" stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as the titular twosome, who are all grown up and exacting revenge on any spell-casters who dare cross their paths.
MTV News spoke with the dynamic duo recently, with one important request in mind: Teach us how to be a badass of fabled proportions.
But first things first, we had to ask to examine their badass bona fides.
"I knew I was a badass when I was in a club when I was about 13," Arterton recalled. "This guy pinched my butt and I punched him in the face."
Co-star Renner, however, was less upfront about his qualifications. "I don't know, like I don't consider myself a badass, so I don't know." You have seen your films, right, Jeremy? "The Hurt Locker." "The Avengers." "The Bourne Legacy." "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol." Any of those ring a bell?
Anyway, Renner was kind enough to play along despite his humbleness, and his #1 rule for badassery was succinct and pretty easy to remember: "Don't suck," he said.
Of course, it's always a good idea to dress the part, too, with some tight-fighting leather.
"It looks good on a badass," Arterton said. Renner agreed: "It can't hurt to have some leather and a weapon."
But there's just one caveat: never, under any circumstances, name your weapon. A badass would never do that.
"Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters" hits theaters January 25.
