My, how time flies. A year ago today the public was clamoring for some news about the birth of Jay-Z and Beyoncé's baby girl, Blue Ivy, and now the celeb tot is celebrating her first birthday. Mom and dad have been careful to keep her shielded from the paparazzi while she's accompanied them to locales and events that mere mortals could only dream of, and 2013 is set to be another action-packed year for her. Sure, Blue can't yet maneuver the world by herself, but she'll still have a front row seat to some pretty exciting events this year.
A Star-Studded First Birthday Party
Jay-Z welcomed his daughter to the world with the heartfelt tribute "Glory" featuring B.I.C. herself, which landed on the Billboard charts, and after spending an entire year falling in love with her, we can only imagine what he has planned for her first birthday party. Aunty Solange, plus her extended family members like Kelly Rowland, Rihanna and uncle Kanye are sure to be among the A-list guests.
The Super Bowl
If her father has anything to do with it Blue Ivy will definitely attend her fair share of sporting events (especially NBA games) but not many people are lucky enough to attend the Super Bowl, much less, before their second birthday. Beyoncé will take the stage for what's sure to be a memorable performance at the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show at the Superdome in New Orleans on February 3, and there's no doubt that her family will be there to show support.
Jay-Z and Beyoncé didn't bother to attend the Grammy Awards in 2012, having recently become new parents, but there's a chance the couple will drop in this year. They're both nominated in multiple categories — including Hov's nod for Best Rap Performance with "N----s in Paris" — but at the very least Blue will watch her parents earn some trophies from the comfort of their couch.
Playdates with KimYe's baby
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West confirmed that they're expecting their first child together, and since these two high-powered couples have already been spending plenty of time together (with B and Kim moshing at the Watch the Throne tour, and both couples sitting front row at the BET Awards together), a few playdates are definitely in store.
In 2011 Beyonce pulled off the most impressive baby bump reveal (probably in pop culture history) on the MTV Video Music Awards stage. After performing her single "Love On Top" B opened up her sequined jacket for the belly rub seen around the world, so isn't it only fitting then that Blue should return to the stage?
Made in America Festival
Jay-Z held his first annual Made in America music festival in Philadelphia last September, with a carefully curated lineup that included his favorite contemporary artists. Beyoncé joined him in Philly to take in all the shows, and when he returns with round two this year, baby Blue will be old enough to watch from the V.I.P. area as well.
Give Blue Ivy your well-wishes in the comments!
