Throughout its 20-year history doling out Golden Popcorns to cinema's most deserving stars, the MTV Movie Awards have played host to a fair share of rebels (Sacha Baron Cohen and his mostly bare bottom come to mind), but on April 14, a very different sort of rebel will take center stage: actress Rebel Wilson.

The "Pitch Perfect" scene-stealer will star in the role of host at the MTV Movie Awards, airing live from the Sony Pictures Studio Lot in Culver City, California, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.

American audiences first became acquainted with the Australian actress, thanks to her breakout role as the interloping sister of Kristen Wiig's roommate in the 2011 comedy "Bridesmaids." She's since gone on to collect a number of big-screen credits including "Bachelorette," "What to Expect When You're Expecting" and, most recently, "Pitch Perfect," in which she played college a cappella singer Fat Amy.

During Thursday's "Jersey Shore" series finale, viewers got a taste of what a Wilson-starring Movie Awards could look like by way of a short trailer co-starring her "Bridesmaids" castmate and friend Matt Lucas. (Watch the full-length trailer above!)

Wilson, however, is no noob to the MTV awards circuit. She memorably appeared at this year's Video Music Awards, clad in a bikini T-shirt and snacking on potato chips, to present the Best Female Video nominees alongside Brit band The Wanted.

Who had the year's hottest kiss? The most bad-ass fight? Which Hollywood star will own the Golden Popcorn this year? Find out at the MTV Movie Awards, starring Rebel Wilson, live on April 14, 2013!
