LOS ANGELES — We have to go back a couple of decades to find a more well-dressed, swagged-out celebrity than 2 Chainz. "I'm waiting to see somebody fresher than me," the Atlanta rap king told MTV News as he walked the red carpet before the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards on Thursday.
"I got a Versace jacket, Versace pants, Versace loafers, all the accessories are Versace with a hint of Givenchy, snap-back with no bill," Tity Boi said while giving us a fashion check after a head-to-toe camera pan.
Call us crazy, but Chainz's black and gold-accented outfit reminded us a bit of Michael Jackson's regal 1984 Grammy look, back when the King of Pop took home eight golden gramophones.

MJ sported a dark blue and gold military-style jacket during one of his many acceptance speeches, and while 2 Chainz's VMA outfit wasn't exactly the same, we couldn't help but notice some influence.
By the time 2 Chainz took the VMA stage with his buddy Lil Wayne, he had changed into a black fedora and black T, but he interestingly threw on some glittery black gloves — an unmistakable throw to MJ's infamous single white glove. No, there wasn't any moonwalking, but he sure did entertain the crowd with his freewheeling, hands-in-the-air dance while he and Weezy rapped along to "Yuck," the opening track to his #1 album, Based on a T.R.U. Story. After the duo rocked that, they switched into Wayne's "No Worries" from Tunechi's recently released Dedication 4 mixtape. It was all pretty fresh, if you ask us.
