It seems that everywhere Jenna Hamilton turns this season on MTV's "Awkward.," one of her love interests is never far behind. Jenna (played by Ashley Rickards) has her current boo, nice guy Jake, and then there's her ex, Matty, who happens to be Jake's bestie. Oh, and Jake doesn't know she used to be in love with Matty. So you can see why the show is called "Awkward."

As season two continues this Thursday at 10:30 p.m. ET, Jenna finds herself still torn between the ex and the new guy. When MTV News sat down with a few of the show's castmembers, we asked about the tangled relationship. Brett Davern (who plays Jake) and Beau Mirchoff (the actor behind Matty) revealed that no matter how the love triangle plays out, it's bound to strain the guys' friendship.

"Yeah, definitely, there a lot of secrets that they have," Davern said. "For Jake, he doesn't know this, but his two people in his world that he cares the most about are keeping this betrayal from him. I mean, I would think he has to find out at some point and I think it's gonna get a little messy. ... It's gonna be surprising, shocking and I don't think it's what people expect."

Mirchoff noted that the aftermath of the reveal may hurt Jake but right now, his character is enduring a lot of pain too: "It's a difficult situation for Matty, in particular, because he's never experienced anything of this magnitude and his best friend is dating the love of his life. So what is he supposed to do? Jake and Matty's relationship will never be the same, I can tell you that."

So who will eventually break the bad news to Jake: Jenna or Matty?

Mirchoff said that first they have to come to terms with whether to say anything at all. "For Jenna, too, she's struggling. Does she tell Jake? And probably Matty [is] struggling [with], 'Can I tell him? Like, are some secrets better left unsaid? Is ignorance bliss?' "
