The elimination of crooner Michael Bolton from "Dancing With the Stars" was not exactly the hot topic of Tuesday night's episode.

Before Bolton got the hook on the dance competition, the thing that folks seemed to be more interested in was why, and at whom, the audience booed during Monday night's show. Host Tom Bergeron called the moment "boo-gate," and producers aired raw footage from Monday night, wanting to clear up the idea that the jeering was aimed at former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. Instead, people were booing the judges for giving Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough a round of eights. In the footage, audience members could be heard shouting "Nine! Nine!" in the background.

"Sarah Palin told me before the show that she was surprised by all the controversy, because she was booing you too. So there," Bergeron joked to the judges. Palin was once again in the crowd on Tuesday night, cheering on daughter Bristol.

After that was cleared up, and following a performance by Janelle Monae and Seal, it was announced that Bolton was being sent home. He seemed none too pleased about it.

On Monday night, judge Bruno Tonioli called Bolton's performance "the worst jive I've ever seen" and gave the singer just three points. Carrie Ann Inaba gave him four and Len Goodman gave him five, for a total of 12 out of 30, the lowest of the season so far.

Bolton said that it had been an incredible experience, but thought Bruno had been inappropriate and disrespectful on Monday night. Other than that, it was a phenomenal experience.

The singer also added that he's disappointed to be going home, and his partner, Chelsie Hightower, said that it had been a pleasure to work with him.

Next week, the celebrities will have to tell a story in their performance.
